There's no way I'd have ordered the 2800 battery if it didn't fit an available aluminum case.
So manfredng, are you involved somehow? And Mef38, what's the deal? Nex

Nexx9;
The case you ordered doesn't seem to fit ideally with this battery. See:
http://www.pdaphonehome.com/forums/showthread.php?t=73794
Let me know (preferably through thread I just linked to above) what your experience is. I'd love to buy the 2800, but only if I can find a nice holster/case to safely protect the phone in which it is installed without modification.

There's bad news and good news.
My 2800 MhA Batt arrived today as did the extended aluminum case made by PDAir.
Bad news: at first it didn't fit at all, because the door didn't come even close to closing. With loads of pressure it looked like it might, but didn't - besides, it became difficult to extract the 6700 when I ensconced it too firmly inside. The case felt unmatched to the 6700 with the new batt.
Good news: after fiddling with it, checking closely when I put the 6700 into the case slow motion, I suddenly realized that it wasn't too much neoprene, it wasn't that the sides were too narrow or wide, or that the case was warped, it was simply that the rectangluar space for the portruding section of the batt was perhaps 1 millimeter too small, vertically.
I took a pen knife and scraped some off the soft aluminum from the bottom end evenly from one side to the other of the rectangular 'hole', then filed it smooth with the file blade on the same little 1 dollar pen knife I'd used to scrape.
My 6700 now sits snugly inside the case, and it closes fine with a tactile click.
The scraping and filing took about 2 minutes; it's not exactly a major undertaking.
I'm happy with the case and the batt, which by the way came 60% charged. Nex

Nex;
Thanks for the info. Sounds like a what I'm looking for but I still have a few questions (thanks in advance for answering as many as you can):
Is this the same as seidio's? If so, what made you buy it from PDair?
Is the touch screen accessable via stylus and still protected while its in the closed case?
I've seen the pictures on their web site of accessing the keyboard while the case is open. Does the phone kind of "stick" to the case with it open or is it an effort to hold it in place or do you actually have to set the case aside when you are using the keyboard.?
Does the case effect volum level of the ring? It's already hard to hear even when it's not in the case.
Can the clip button be removed and reinstalled on the case (if I would sometimes like to use the case without the clip)?
Does the belt clip swivel have different positions that it "clicks" into or does it twirel 360 degrees freely?
Do you think the battery being exposed would cause damage to phone itself if dropped on battery side, since the battery has no shock protecting neoprene on it?
Can you post a picture of exactly where you made the cut and filing you wrote of?
Any of the same complaints that people had in this thread:
http://www.pdaphonehome.com/forums/showthread.php?t=73794
Case pops open when dropped?
Phone comes out of case when it pops open (unless you modify with egrips)?
Belt clip pops off of belt easily?
Phone comes out of clip easily?
Case latch needs modifications in order to work securely?

Any unbiased user reports on this battery? How long does it last compared with the stock battery?
(and is reception improved?)

"Is this the same as seidio's? If so, what made you buy it from PDair?"
I actually got it from another outfit in California that ships much faster, but it's a PDAir. I'm no case expert. I just ordered the same brand I did last time for the oem batt.
"Is the touch screen accessable via stylus and still protected while its in the closed case?"
Yes and yes
"I've seen the pictures on their web site of accessing the keyboard while the case is open. Does the phone kind of "stick" to the case with it open or is it an effort to hold it in place or do you actually have to set the case aside when you are using the keyboard.?"
Doesn't matter since Aluminum is so soft you can practically mould it to your specs. But yes, it sits comfortable with the kbd out. Of course I messed with it when trying to fix the bad fit at first, so I did do a little bending and prodding.
"Does the case effect volume level of the ring? It's already hard to hear even when it's not in the case."
Not that I've noticed.
"Can the clip button be removed and reinstalled on the case (if I would sometimes like to use the case without the clip)?"
Sorry, I don't use it that way. No idea. But looking at it now, it sure looks like the answer is yes. (can't remember where I put that clip - it's in the car proboably - it's midnight and I'm not going out for it)
"Do you think the battery being exposed would cause damage to phone itself if dropped on battery side, since the battery has no shock protecting neoprene on it? "
I think you should be careful, but the battery door does protect somewhat. No, not as much protection as the regular metal case. Win some, lose some.
As for dropping it, you do that test, okay?
I like the batt btw. So far it looks like I'll be able to go the entire day without recharging. I use it heavily during the day as a music player and streamer and I browse and IM a lot. Normally I'd constantly be charging the oem batt on the car charger during the day. Not today and I had 40% left when I got home. Nex

Pre-orders Available
Well, as everyone now knows, our new 2800mAh battery is out-of-stock. We have many more arriving early next week. Some have asked if they can Pre-Order the battery. Our system does not easily allow this, but we made a workaround.
If you want to pre-order, go to this link: http://www.lionbattery.com/manorder.php
This takes you to our manual order form. Fill it out and either email it or fax (450-349-7337) it to us. Once the batteries are in stock (within a week or so)we will charge your credit card and ship the order in a first-come first-served pattern.
If you have any questions, please let us know.

[quote=mef38]Lion Battery is pleased to announce the release of a new 2800mAh battery for the Audiovox/UTStarcom PPC6700. This new battery is now the most powerful battery available for the PPC6700.
Mef38...
I just wanted to recommend you creating maybe a new post here in the 6700 forum announcing your new battery. Since it was a 'moved' post it does not move to the first page when someone posts. I went looking for this post and although you posted Today it was still on page 8. Of course I tried the advanced search, but the search engine here is very weak and I had to go page to page to find it.
I will be ordering this new battery as soon as you have them in stock again.
Thanks

That's because it has now been moved to "The Mall". But it is on page 1 of "The Mall".
If you are interested in ordering the battery before it arrives, you can go to our site and use the manual order form. Faxing (450-349-7337) or emailing us the form will put you in the shipping queue. We will not charge your credit card until we are ready to ship but you will be served in a priority sequence. (Orders will be first-come, first-served.)
This is the link to the Manual Order Process: http://www.lionbattery.com/manorder.php
If you have any questions, please let us know.

Got mine!
My Mugen 2800mAh battery from LionBattery was waiting for me when I came home this afternoon after a few days away at work.
I noticed that the 2800 is just ever-so-slightly thicker and heavier than the 2300. And I mean that's only noticeable upon close examination. Other than that, the two batteries look practically identical with the exception of the details on their labels. That said, I also noticed that both fit well under the same battery door/cover (the 2800 also came with a new one that's identical in size and shape). Not a bad package for an additional 500mAh of capacity!
Thus far, I've been quite satisfied with my Mugen 2300mAh battery (from LionBattery), seeing dramatic improvement in how long I can use my PPC6700 on a single charge. Gaining extra size and weight in upgrading from the stock battery is totally overshadowed by the greatly increased staying power and less need for having a charger nearby. Actually, the extra size and weight, IMHO, is a good thing as it gives my phone a nice solid, easy-to-hold feel.
Because I anticipate my new 2800mAh battery to be even better, I'll be happy to part with my 3-month-old 2300mAh battery. For anyone interested in buying it, go check out my post in the "garage sale" forum on this site or just PM me.
I'll give this battery a whirl and post my thoughts on it in a while.
