turning up the juice on a crappy hands free unit!?
I was at a friends house being lazy and didnt get to charge my phone for three days. Needless to say it was at its battery charged end. I jumped in my truck, plugged her up to the hands free speaker phone, kept the clam shell shut and drove 30 minutes home. When I got home and got in the house, I opened the phone and it said "low battery, shutting down". Now grant it I could have a worn battery, but, it is lasting as long as it ever has, about a day and a half depending on how I use it, so, I would sure it would take a charge, if there was one, but, a 30 minute ride home and it was charged just enough to give me a warning??
How do I get my hands free unit to spit out some voltage? Do I need to plug in the regular charger also to get the phone to ramp up in battery life at a decent amount of time? If so, I will splice right on in!! If the hands free charges THAT slow, I would have to keep it plugged in 24/7 if was on the road and only had that!?
If you're talking about the OEM Kyocera HFK, it will charge the phone without any other attachments. Verify that it works by connecting your phone to the HFK and observe the battery indicator to verify it is actually charging. If not, the HFK is likely defective. As far as the phone is concerned, it doesn't know whether it's being charged from a wall charger, a car charger, the cradle, or a HFK, it's all the same, so if it charges with one, it will (should) charge with the others as well.
Also, note that the 7135 retains the last message on the screen. Thus, if it threw the low battery warning and you did not clear the message before you charged it, it would still show even though it recharged successfully.
Well Arsenal, truth be told, it was fairly good and dead when I stuck it in the car to be charged. I didnt look at it till I got home. I opened it up and it said "low batter, turning off phone". I just said a few words, closed it and stuck it on the charger, so, as far as that round goes, guess we cant go by that then. Will keep that in mind the next time it happens (if it does cause I have a whole slew of chargers now).
