8GB sdhc sd card?

Hi - I am STILL hanging in there with my 7135 - purchased in 2003. I wonder if anyone has tried using the new SDHC SD cards in their 7135? I purchased one, but haven't opened the packaging yet, to see if it will work.

I currently have a 4GB regular SD card that works fine, but need more capacity.

TIA,
Cindy

Well, thanks for the info--I was wondering about a 4gb regular card--I almost bought a 4gb SDHC, but after reading about how it was not compatible with all devices, I held back--so my guess is no b/c ours was out before the standard--you could email/chat/call Kyo tech support, they may be slow, but they are responsive...
2003--congrats! same phone?
good luck with the card--let us know
Adam

Both the card and the card slot hardware have to support SDHC in order for it to work. I'm sure that the 7135 slot does not support it, so it will not work.

Hi Michael - Wow - you're still on here - I remember you from the days when this whole craziness with the 7135 started!

Well, I bought the 8 GB SDHC, tried it, and it doesn't work, so it goes back to the store today.

Cindy

Yep, I am still here. It has been a while since I've posted anything in this forum, but I still watch it for messages. I've moved on to the Treo line of devices quite some time ago. Take care!

Considering how slow the SD card interface on the 7135 is, an 8 GB card would seem to create a problem (even if it worked). Does the time to access data from, say a nearly full 4GB card, increase over that required to access data from a nearly full 512 MB card?

The bigger the SD card is, the slower it's going to be. That seems to be the general rule of thumb from my personal experience with them. The 512MB card I have is MUCH faster than my 2GB card in every aspect. They are both SanDisk Ultra-II cards, so it's not a make/model difference issue. It is especially seen with random, small file access. Reading/writing large sequential files is affected, but not as much.

Based on SilvrDrgn's experience, it would appear that going to a larger SD card unless absolutely necessary should be avoided unless the increase in read/write time is acceptable. I am using a 512 MB card that is only a little over half full. I have about 150 songs, 20 pictures, and, of course, a backup. I can't imagine why anyone would need 8 GB.

More songs man!!!!

Im in the gym quite a bit and having a huge playlist is vital to help me take my mind off of the monotony.
