7135 external keyboard install

Hey guys - I have had my 7135 since they were first offered by verizon - just recently picked up a brand new TXHDW1004 keyboard on ebay - sweet deal by the way. Am having trouble getting this thing to work. Installed the software, hotsyched it to the phone, the icon shows on the Palm screen, but when I attach the keyboard to the phone, nothing happens. If I connect and reconnnect the cable to the phone, sometimes a few keyes on the keyboard will work, but it's not fully functioning. Anybody else on the forum have sucess with one of these? Plus, when I deleted the software from the phone,
and reinstalled it - my phone went off the verzon network, and I had to reactivate it - a really scarry thing as all of you know - wasn't sure if they would even let me do it - they did. Any ideas? Thanks, Bob - a very loyal 7135 user.

Well the only way the phone can get "off the network" is if it somehow lost or corruped its ESN, MDN, MIN, AKEY, PRL, or PRI, which are all stored in flash (non-volatile) memory. This would only happen if the device is somehow compromised or damaged. Installing apps or drivers should definitely not mess with the phone side of things. This indicates a hardware failure to me.

So my deleting the keybord software and then reinstalling it couldn't have caused this? Or maby I deleted something from the file manager that I shouldn't have. Either way, guess I'll bail on the external keyboard idea and be happy I still have a working 7135. Is it ok to offer this keyboard on the forum?

All the critical parameters that identify and authenticate the phone with the network are stored in the phone's flash memory, which is totally separate from the Palm flash and RAM. The file manager only shows the Palm file system, nothing related to the phone side of things. The only way for the phone parameters to become corrupted is through a hardware failure. What exactly happened when the phone became detached from the network and what did you do to get it back on? Maybe we're not talking about the same thing, but when you said the phone went off the network I took that to mean that the network was unable to identify and/or authenticate your phone. Which in turn means that one of the critical parameters (which are stored in phone flash and are not exposed through the Palm side file manager etc.) became corrupted.
