Web browsing on my 7135
Adriantc:
I was able to access Accuweather.com from my 7135. I am running MZ1.0.36, SZ1.0.23, PRL 50096.
I was NOT able to get to AW using the default EIS Web browser that comes with the phone, but good old Blazer Ver 2.0 (build 49) did the trick.
I could access the site and cruise all links. As the site is not optimized for handhelds it did take me a couple of minutes to get acclimated and find the radar link but it took less than 15 seconds to load the radar image once found.
That said, I was not able to view any "moving" radar. It seems that one has to join the site to access radar that is updated every 5 minutes and I did not wish to signup. It seems that "non-members" get a 15 minute update by default, but I did not want to hang around for 15 minutes to see if the screen refreshed.
I also went to AW on my desktop to see if I was missing something on my 7135 but everything looked the same (only smaller) on the 7135.
While I did not spend more than 10 minutes on the site, I was able to access local weather by zip code and looked at several regional weather views.
I am sorry I cannot answer your specific question regarding the moving weather. My spin is that If I have to wait 5 minutes for each update I think I would rather just look outside.
One note, Blazer does not run Java scripts (at least my version does not) but overall I have been very pleased with Blazer. It costs $20 from Handspring.
Maybe other 7135 users have a recommendation for third party web software they would like to share with us.
I have had my 17135 over two months now and have put it through the grinder. I have loaded just about every piece of software I can find to see what I like and other than a few software incompatibility issues, it has worked great. I recommend staying away from over clocking. I tried and was not pleased with the increased resets.
Hope this helps you decide.
Sincerely, bcottun
