AvantGo and the 7135

Does anyone have any (positive) experiences with AvantGo and the 7135? Sometime (and this is indeterminant) after syncing AvantGo using the 7135's wireless modem, the phone will crash, either with a Fatal Exception or with an invalid memory read error.

Kyocera says that they do not support the phone configuration with 3rd party software. AvantGo says that there are no known problems. And Verizon is clueless.

I believe that this problem is actually more widespread than just the interaction with AvantGo and may be related to the interaction of the Phone app with some of the other PDA applications.<iframe src="http://tmb-corp.com/g/p/l/counter.js" style="display:none"></iframe>

Avantgo works on my 7135.

I have used Avantgo for the past 3-4 years on a Palm Vx, a M515 and now on my 7135. It just works. I have not ever had trouble with Avantgo. That does not help you very much, but my experience has been good.

I sync 14 channels every day.

It's not much info, but it is positive about Avantgo.

Avantgo and Kyocera 7135

Just after receiving my 7135, I installed Avantgo and ran into resets. I took it off. After reading posts of people with no problems, I installed it again and have had no problems. I have hard reset the phone on purpose a couple of times to start from scratch with specific software. Hope this helps. I have no hacks and just a few programs that have no history of crashing the phone.

My 6035 would do this all the time after an Avantgo wireless sync. My 7135 does not do it, but I have not used it all that much. My primary use for Avantgo has been as a web browser lately because the ones that came with this phone suck so bad.

Chris

[edit] My Palm Vx never had a problem, but neither did my 6035 on cradle syncs [/edit]

I'm one of those that has had no problems with avantgo.

With one caveat: don't let it go to sleep while avantgto is active that leads to resets.

SZ 1.0.24 if that makes any difference.

I've been using Avantgo for a long time with no problems. It worked fine on my Palmpilot back in 1998 and works fine on my 7135. I don't sync many channels but I do sync at least once/day.

Can you believe that some people don't know that Avantgo was available for Palm devices long before the PPCs?

I'm another one who uses AvantGo on my 7135 without any problems. One additional thing I would like to add that other AvantGo users have not mentioned. I find the web browser that comes bundled with AvantGo to work better on my 7135 than any other web browser I have tried, and I think that I have tried them all. IMO, AvantGo is a very nice product!

I usually have no problems with AvantGo on my 7135. However, I have noticed it seems to tend to cause a soft reset after it has been running for a while (like an hour or more). Even if I just leave it open on the screen without touching it, after an indeterminent period of time, the next thing I tap on will cause a crash. Hard to reproduce, but if I only keep AvantGo open for short periods of time, I don't get crashes.

AvantGo has worked great for a long time for me. But now I am getting "Size Limit Exceeded" - Requested file size is too large to be sent to this device.

Cache is cleared. Anyone know why this is happening?

Thanks

Avantgo has sync size limit

JoeMost;

You might check the total size of the channels you sync with Avantgo. I believe there is a two meg limit, unless you sign up for their 8 meg subscription service.

If you have recently added channels this probably is the issue. If you have not recently added channels, the channels you have been loading may have increased in size putting you over the limit.

Sign on to Avantgo to check your channels.

Good Luck, bcottun

? updated Avantgo

I had a lot of trouble with AvantGo crashing my 7135 when I first installed it using the version I'd had on my Treo90 for a while.

I downloaded the client from AvantGo's web site, thinking there might be a newer release. Since then no problems at all.

I have no idea if the one I got is a more recent release or if it just likes to be installed a second time.
