Originally posted by tedcmiller Good quality individual Torx screw drivers are available at Sears. I bought a #6 for $2.00 just to have in case I needed it to open my 7135. Cheap Torx bit sets frequently do not have a #6 (they skip from #5 to #7) and when they do, it usually doesn't fit the screw heads properly. There is a significant risk of ruining the screw head trying to use these bits.
tedc,
Thanks, that's a really good suggestion. I'm off to Sears. Don't try to stop me!

As above, I've had my original 7135 for three years, and a 6035 before that. Running fine.....on Verizon, so have MOU data plan -- which I won't give up! Form factor looking a little large, but what else is there, even if I wanted to pay extra for data....the Treo? Bad Bluetooth....no voicedial.....pay for data....what's the advantage!?
Still checking this board from time to time. I have had my 7135 since October 2003. Although a couple months ago I switched to the 650, my wife is still using my Kyo!
7135 user since May 2003. On my third phone, but rock solid since July 2003. Same battery.
I love MOU and can't justify data plan for my minimal use.
Considering Treo 650 & 700w, but will probably keep KYO until it dies. In the meantime, I'll keep monitoring boards to see if it makes any sense to switch early.

I too have (please note the past tense) a 7135 user since May '03. My first unit died a year later, and was replaced by asurion. My second unit died 3 days ago. How did it die? It became acutely unstable, locking up, needing hard resets every 1-2 hours. God Bless backup buddy! Anyway, just got my replacement Treo 650 yesterday afternoon. Much faster, more memory, much higher resolution, better operating system, keyboard, bluetooth, and more.
Ya know what? After a day of working the thing, I would still take a functioning 7135 over this. Oh well!

I registered just to let you know I'm here too. Only had the 7135 for about a year. Got it on ebay. Still trying to get it to do everything it is capable of.
You guy's have taught me everything I know about my phone. Thanks!
still got my 7135 which i have been using since the phone was first released. i couldnt live without it! it truley changes it
had a 6035 before that.
also have a brand new 7135 still in the box not even openned just in case something happens to the one i use everyday. if something does go south i plan on getting another 5 years with the new one i have in reserve

My first converged phone was a Samsung i300 on Sprint which was great untill the Kyo came along. I also have an i730 on Nextel but waiting for an i870. This is my first and only 7135, for 2 1/2 years (since June 2003) on Verizon (in Memphis, TN), now on Alltel (in Richmond, VA)... 10361 calls, 28719 minutes. Aside from occasional soft resets, it works great. Still using 14.4kb MoU for POP3, Hotmail (via mobile.msn.com) and all web using NWeb. One hinge is cracked, Graffiti area very scratched, metal cover fell off a year ago...it looks ugly but still works everytime. I still get "What kinda phone is that" when I flip it open (Star Trek communicator sound) and it's all eyes on me when I get incoming calls (ringer is a sample from an old 60's Western Electric bell phone).
Guess when it finally dies I'll have to bite the bullet and get a Treo 650...aaaaaargh! no Graffiti!

RedDog205,
You might look into the service offered in the thread, http://pdaphonehome.com/forums/showt...7&goto=newpost
on this forum. Many of us have used him (I'm about to) and were apparently pleased. Maybe the time when we have to give up a truly converged phone can be put off a year or four?

Yes, I still get this too! It's amazing, some people think it's something new that came out just now. It was so advanced for it's time when it came out and I don't think anything has touched its total package of features yet. I know others have had problems, but mine (knock-on-wood) has been a rock so far. Wish Kyocera would come out with a follow-up though with a faster Processor and updated Palm OS.
I loved the 7135, but I felt it was time to get a device with a keyboard, higher-res screen, wifi, bluetooth, and in general more stuff.
The 6700 is very nice, but the biggest thing I miss from the 7135 is the flip. I have to deal with lock applications and crap like that for the 6700, never had to do that with the 7135.
I'm selling my 7135 collection in case anyone is interested.
Hey RedDog-
I also had a startrek communicator sound on flip, and the old telephone as a ringer!
Just stopped by for nostalgia's sake
Bill
now a Treo 650 user.
(BTW - the best thing about the Treo 650 on verizon is that now I can use wireless sync. When verizon first came out with wireless sync, it worked on the 7135, but was painfuly slow. They changed it a couple of years ago, and the new client was too big for the 7135, so I stopped using it. Wireless sync now is very fast - even on 1x - and supports 'push' email. I really think that this is a super service!)
I just discovered this forum a few weeks ago (although I've been a very happy and satisfied 7135 user for quite some time) and I love it. You guys rock!
I got mine today. USCC pulled one from out of thin air and it did not cost me anything except a new contract. The next task is figuring out how to use everything.
One question: Will the software sync with Lotus Notes instead of Outlook?
