question for you alltel peeps.. i dunt wanna talk to alltel peeps just yet for fear they may just mess with me.....
seeing as how alltel says your up poop creek without a paddle if you buy a 7135... i bought mine on e-bay and i found ive been paying for their insurance coverage on this phone.... if i lost or broke or tossed my phone into an exploding atom bomb on accident or it got stollen or such... would that insurance cover this phone since i did not buy it through them? and also that it is a 7135? cause i dunt wanna pay 8.00 a month for the hell of it.. i know these phones arent the best in the world and it is starting to get flaky on me....
They will be happy to charge you for the insurance, but they will not cover your 7135 "because it is not a phone, it's a PDA." And you can't get PDA insurance "because it's a phone."
I think you may be able to get a refund for the insurance premiums if you complain loud enough. Good Luck!

thats nice to know... ill try to get them to cover it.. if they wont can just cut my contract.. i still have 1.5 yr on it they might react to that one..... if dont wanna refund my money they will react to that... alltel is suckkkkkkkky!!!!!!! i bet i can do something bout it though. even paying 200$ for a cancelation fee would still be cheaper than paying 100$ a month for their service.... its getting rediculous... i'm ready to shove it to em. hey got any pointers on how to get the most outa alltel?
I FOUND SOMETHING INTERESTING ABOUT MY PRODUCT GUARD... ever since i purchaced my 7135 i have been paying 7.00 for platinum product guard!!!!! so would that mean i have phone coverage? anybody know about this?
Alltel's Product Guard - even the new, more expensive version - does not cover the Kyocera 7135. They don't tell you this if you have insurance on the phone you are replacing with a 7135. They just keep collecting your money for ineffective insurance. They only tell you if you ask about it. They will tell you this if you don't already have the insurance and inquire about getting it for the 7135.
That is very interesting. According to that document, the 7135 is covered under the Platinum plans for premium equipment. Either the customer service person I talked to was woefully ignorant, lying, or the so-called Platinum plans did not exist at the time. It would appear that you can get coverage for the 7135 if you are willing to spend the extra bucks.
Yes, the NEW insurance has 2 tiers - the standard phone your ma carries in the glovebox, and the expensive high-value PDAs and media phones with 1 megapixel cameras, memory & video. The high tier DOES cover all PDA phones, including the 6035, 7135, Motoroal V710 & Blackberry. So what you do is pay the $8, wait 2 months, backup your data and get yourself in a barfight using the 7135 as your brass knuckles. Gonna have to damage it, because I am sure the insurance agents (and store reps) are smart enough to know NO ONE would steal a 3" wide, 1/2-lb phone!
Just goes to show how people (that would be Alltel in this case) can hose things up. At the time I got my 7135, I was using a Motorola T720 and had the $4.00 per month Product Guard. They never told me that the new phone was not covered. I heard about that possibility on this web site. When I questioned Alltel they said the 7135 was, in fact, not covered, so I dropped the coverage entirely. There was nothing said about a more expensive plan that would cover the phone. The only information I received from Alltel was a notice that that the coverage on my wife's phone was going to cost more, so I dropped that too. I will probably continue without any coverage on either phone.
Yeah, the change was made in the middle of June, & I wouldn't have known that PDAs were covered under the new plan if I hadn't been employed by them when the change was first announced to us in advance of the official notice given to insurance holders. The people you have talked to (any of you) really SHOULD know these things, unless they are 3-week new-hires, but most salespeople you will find in an Alltel store tend to be 2 year verterans at least, so there really is no excuse for the misinformation. But I'll say it again, I let them hire me thinking they were the low-qual alternative, that I would be slumming, but I now have even turned my back on Verizon in favor of staying with Alltel. It really is a customer-focused company, even though customer-facing employees will convince you otherwise.
The thing to remember, owning a 7135, is this: YOU WILL ALWAYS KNOW MORE ABOUT YOUR PHONE THAN ANYONE IN A STORE! It is usually a good thing to inquire if anyone in the store or a nearby store owns or has owned the 7135 and deal exclusively with that person.
Very nice, just signed up, even got the test call today. 30 days, and I am covered with Alltel, after having this phone for almost 2 years. 'Bout time, this does work!
