My phone suddenly stopped sending outgoing calls, receiving calls, or even responding to dialed numbers. I also would not register that I was receiving voicemail messages. The problem appeared to start after I let my battery run down to almost nothing one day.
I looked through posts in this forum and attempted most fixes. Like others, my phone would not correct itself with soft resets. I attempted a hard reset several times (pushing the backlight button and holding while pushing the reset button etc.), but it would not accept this either.
I ended up using a combined approach. I pulled out the battery for about 5 seconds, put it back in and then held the reset button for 30 seconds. I thought this would result in a hard reset, but it did not. However, my phone module returned to full functionality and messages appeared instantly from the network. I don't know why, but this appeared to work for me.
Is the battery tapped out? Could be, but it has been holding a charge rather consistently since I obtained it about a year ago. I have not seen a drop in capacity etc. It may indeed be possible that the contacts are problematic, as I have seen discussion of on this forum.

I had the same problem. Here is what I did, while holding down the backlight key (light bulb), press the reset button for 5 seconds. Release the reset button, then release the backlight button. I had to do it a couple fo time for it to work.
The procedure described by drr and 2Cor13;11 is the standard procedure for generating a hard reset. However, the 7135 User Guide is very specific about the timing of the button presses and releases. You should press the backlight button first, then the recessed reset button inside the battery compartment, holding both buttons depressed for several seconds. Then release only the reset button. Continue holding the backlight button depressed until the Palm logo appears in the display. Release the backlight button and a message asking whether or not to continue with the hard reset should appear. Answer "YES." If you answer "NO" the hard reset will be cancelled. Failure to follow this procedure and timing of button depressions will most likely result in a failure to achieve a hard reset. This could explain why 2Cor13:11 had to try several times before succeeding.
