Question Realistic Expectation for Caller ID delay?

Am on the fence about getting a 7135 instead of a Treo. One issue I came across in these forums is the delay in getting a category ring if you have a lot of contacts. I couldn't get a clear picture of what is realistic with a lot of contacts.

I have about 1700, many obsolete and could be trashed, but I'd still wind up with near 1000.

With this number of contacts, how many regular rings would one expect before gettting a category ring?

Thanks.

I have 400 contacts and by the time I look down at my phone the contact is up. Second ring anyway.

I recall that some of the early adpoters had in excess of 1000 contacts and no one seemed to note a caller ID delay of longer than one ring. And that was mostly when trying to use the category ringer feature....
