Using a txdta10011 USB cable to try and connect 7135 to WinXP SP2 home laptop. Installed Palm Desktop from Kyocera, downloaded drivers for txdta10011. Every time I connect the phone I get an "Unknown Device". I tried updating the driver using the PDA driver for the cable, as well as the USB driver distributed w/ Palm Desktop. Have tried connecting the phone after hitting the hotsync button, and also just as it is. Tried choosing both cradle/cable and USB as connection method in HotSync app on phone. Hotsync on computer is listening on USB. Its a new notebook and I haven't connected w/ cradle yet. Am really pulling my hair out over this one and would be grateful for any help. Thanks.
Do you have the CD that comes with the 7135?? You have to install the drivers from that. I believe they should be downloadable from the http://www.kyocera-wireless.com web site.

I probably could dig up the CD if necessary. However, the Palm Desktop and txdta10011 drivers I used I did in fact get from kyocerra-wireless.com . Would I have better luck w/ the software / drivers from the CD? Thanks.
You'll probably have better luck with the CD drivers. I think there's something included on there with what it installs that will probably resolve your unrecognized device problem.
Thanks michael - I'll give it a shot if I can actually find the CD . BTW, since it seems that Verizon is no longer offerring the 7135 b/c of the SRCP problems (I assume) there is no place to download the Palm software from verizon. If anyone knows how to get verizon's software (other than ordering a new CD) that'd be great. Thanks
Found the CD I got from Verizon - uninstalled Palm Desktop, installed version from CD, but the same problem. Would be most grateful for any further suggestions either to solve this problem or good places to go to get reliable USB cables. Thanks.
I suggest calling Kyocera tech support. There are several subtle causes and fixes to these type of connection errors. Even a knowledgable user might stumble around and find the solution only through dumb luck.
[OT] Tech support? You mean that such a thing still exists these days? Funny - I have gotten so used to having to troubleshoot my own problems that it never enters my mind to call - prob. because I hate having to deal w/ 1st level people who have to ask all those inane basic questions.
Anyway, if you have had good results with kyocera, then I'll give them a call. If I solve the problem I'll post back here. Thanks.
