Thumbs up Remote Access for your 7135! Work on your PC from miles away from your 7135!

What an amazing program! CHECK THIS WEBSITE OUT!

www.win-hand.com

With this FREE, I REPEAT, FREE (no adware, or junk) program you can work on your PC from your 7135. REAL-TIME! I'm so excited!

The program takes up about 300kb, it's totally secure, and very easy to use. In less then 5 minutes I was up in running.

Email me if you need help with yours. I've helped set up quite a few friends with this program since I found it. Everyone LOVES it!

Also, I'm using Quick2net and the refreash rate good. I can't imagine it with EN.

I installed it. Seems to be fast over EN.

It looks like its using a proxy setup. The handheld connects to the win-hand server and your PC is running an open connection to the same server, where the data is transfered back and forth after being encrypted.

Session keys are used up over time and then new ones are genearted during a HotSync.

Kind of cool approach. I tried several other remote access type apps, and this one is by far the easiest to setup and use.

I'm a paranoid person. I don't like the idea of my PC having an open connection to that proxy server. What else could that server be doing on my PC while connected (spying) ???

I am too. I tried it, seems cool, but its not sitting there idle on my machine.

I wish I knew more about it in terms of security.

Here is an old thread on it

I only trust applications for which I have the source code for remote access to my computer.

If you want remote access to a machine, I suggest investigating VNC or NX (Although I think the NX protocol is Unix-only. VNC is cross-platform.)

Most VNC servers and clients are open-source software, so they're generally more trustworthy than no-name third-party apps.

I LOVE VNC. Now that I have a Treo 600 I should try out PalmVNC again.

Thanks for all the suggestions and feedback. After several conflicting answers from customer service, I went to my local VZW store. A bored, but kind customer service rep. checked the network settings and it worked fine.

By the time I drove the mile and a hale home I had the same problem. Being persistent I called customer service yeat again for another conflicting answer. The one helpful clus from customer service was that when calling from home, I was on the extended network. I thought that was funny as I live in the middle of Verizon's solid coverage through California's Central Valley). Turns out Sprint put up a new cell tower a couple blocks from my house and I lost 1X access ever since. Data services are fine less than a half mile from that tower. I don't mind too much as I access data on the 7135 only when I am away from the house. Were I more adventuresome, I might change to the America's Choice2 plan which has no roaming or extended network

Win-Hand

Hello,

I have been using Win-Hand for almost 2.5 years now, even when I had my 6035. This is an awesome program. I have never had any security issues with it.

The only item is, it use to be $39.95 with frequent updates. The last release under this purchase program was somewhere around the 4.1 version.

Now I feel the developer is going to a timed subscription version. This way he can charge per month, year, etc.

I have never switched over to the new free version, since I have never had any problems with my purchased version.

Now since I have gone thru two 7135 phones with the "Service required, Contact provider" message, I am hoping I will still be able to enjoy Win-Hand.

I have no affilliation with Win-Hand or Michele Turcotte <sp> at all. Just a happy user of the purchased program.
