MP3 and Alarm questions

Hey All,

Well after quite a while of waiting I finally got myself a 7135....so far I'm loving it, but I have a few issues....

1) MP3 audio only comes out one speaker/heaphone when hooked up to car staero or headphones. I'm using a stereo to stereo 3.5mm-2.5mm adapter. Any ideas?

2) Out of about a dozen trys, the date book alarm has gone off twice (once with sound once without). I've used Palms since the Palm Pro...so I know how to set an alarm....but it's just not working. I'm wondering if it only works when the phone is on or when you leave the device in certain apps (as I've seen before...like on my old Palm Pro I'd have to leave the date book for alarms to work). Any ideas here?

I'm actually returning the device today because it came out of the box with a dead pixel...perhaps the above items may also be because of a faulty device??

Any help would be VERY appreciated as alarms allow me to never have to remember to do anything

TIA

Cheers

PS...yes I read the newbie posts...but I didn't find what I was after

1) Which 3.5mm - 2.5mm adapter are you using? I tried using one from Radio Whack (sic), but had the same issue, so broke down and ordered one from PC Mobile, which works perfectly.

2) Alarms don't sound when you have the unit set to "Silent" mode, and MAY not sound if you have a headset connected.

HTH

LOL...I'm using the one from Radio Shack too...had to trim the rubber back from the plug to get it to plug all the way in.

So it sounds like I may be off to PC Mobile to grab the adapter I see everyone chatting about. BTW...Is PC Mobile US or Canada (if it's US the $10 adapter will cost about $15 in shippping and duty) *sigh*

As far as "silent" mode goes....

Nope...ringer on...no headphones plugged in...just sitting there armed and ready to alert me....just no alert

BTW...Is "Silent Mode" the same as vibrate? It's very unclear because the phone settings allow you to set ring/vibrate/ring then vibrate.....but holding down the external volume down turns on silent mode!! So what's what??

Cheers

http://www.pc-mobile.net/

It's in Hong Kong, but they ship quickly. Buy an extra or 2 or 3, in case you lose/damage one. Shipping is hardly any extra when you add one since they weight next to nothing.

Dunno what the problem is with the alarm, but you might just want to "soft-reset" the unit, then see what happens.
