Accessing services that require DTMF or TouchTones.
Many services available on landlines require you to key in passwords or account numbers etc. using TouchTones or DTMF tones. You normally do this after to reach the landline site.
My question is: Can these tones be programmed into an address book location in the 7135 so that I don't have to enter large sequences of keys once I reach a site?
What characters cause the phone to switch from digitally encoded numbers to tones?
You sometimes have to put pauses in the string of tones. What characters do you use to create a pause?
I have looked over may Internet sites for this info and I can't find any sites that explain this.
btw, the phone numbers are not protected at all, so leaving account numbers and PINs stored in the address book is not the smartest thing to do.
i'll use the above features for extensions, voice mail access and non-essential calls, but for account info and things like that I use DataShield to store the info then simply deal with manual entry

You are correct. I would not put account numbers or the like into a mobile phone, but I needed some obvious examples to explain what I was asking for.
Best regards, MadCanuck.
Here is an obvious example:
This works if your account is on Verizon. Go to the Messages app and tap on the pull down menu and select "Voice Mail". Tab on the phone number and change the default *86 to:
1234567890,,1234#
where 1234567890 is your cell number and 1234 is your voice mail box password. This will access your voice mail when speed dialing "1" and input your password. The commas insert pauses. I used my full cell phone because for a while I had free mobile to mobile calling and by calling my phone number I was not charged for checking my VM, as opposed to using *86 which did. But I think VZW changed that...
Another one to check my answering machine is:
123-4567 %1234
Since the amount of time to access my anwering machine message varies I used a '%' to add a pause until I press the 'OK' button.

Thanks for the info for releasing the 'hard' pause, namely pressing the 'OK' button. I tried 'any' keys but they didn't do the job. The 'OK' is the one

The info on the pauses and stuff are indeed in the manual. Just not the printed one. There is a more extensive manual for the 7135 in PDF form on the CD to the tune of 224 pages. You'll enjoy this read if your into RTFMing! (see page 80 for info on pauses). When I first got my phone I kept a copy of this manual on my SD card and used the palm version of Acrobat reader to reference it from time to time!
