OK, i'm going nuts here, every reference to SMS about the Kyocera 7135 talks about using the "Messages" app. But if I open my messages app on my 7135, there is no ability to create a new message. There is an Inbox, Net-Alerts, and Outbox folder, there is an Erase All Button at the bottom, and in the menu there are just options for Incoming Messages, Voice Mail, Message Counts, and an About box
What am I missing. How do I send SMS messages using the Kyocera 7135?????
Nope. Not there. The only button is an "Erase All" button. I'm wondering if because this was a replacement phone that Verizon's insurance carrier sent me when my first phone got damaged if perhaps this isn't a generic 7135 that's missing something needed to do SMS messasging
I called several verizon stores about checking the firmware but they had no idea what I was talking about.
MZ 1.0.44
SZ 1.0.29
is what I have now, and there is no verizon logo on restart
Nope. No "New" button in the Outbox. The only button for "Outbox" is at the bottom left and is labelled "Erase All". I've done a hard reset and it's still the same. The about box for messages says it's version 3.0 of the Messages app. This is extremely weird.

Yep, mine is version 3.0 too. It's Kyocera software/app. I'd fire off an email to Kyocera support or call them.
I can receive SMS messages just fine. I just can't find how to send them. I've attached a picture of the outbox screen to this message (76k), and no, there is no send option in the menubar either. I've got an email into kyocera support but I'm not counting on a response. I still think it might have something to do with the fact that I used to have a verizon-branded phone and then when it got damaged the insurance company sent me a generic kyocera phone. perhaps the messages app has to have something enabled in the firmware for sending to be enabled???
Press 111111 from the Phone screen, then scroll down to 'Options' and press Ok. select Programming. Enter 000000 as the security code (for Verizon at least), then tap on More, and choose SMS from the drop down menu, check MO-SMS Enabled. I went through the same thing with my insurance replacement.
YES! Thank you broncot! That's was the trick. My wife has a plain-jain phone, and I had just set her up with SMS links to http://www.google.com/sms/ (which is really cool by the way), and I was jealous I couldn't do the same on my $500 palm phone. Now I can. Great! Thanks for the tip!
