newbie questions

ok so I just picked up one of these phones, and all I am having is problems. everytime I go into the phone part, and scroll down it freezes. literally everytime. so I have to reset. the mp3 player is chopping, and I have them encoded at 64kbps. I read all the stuff on this site, and its an awesome site. I also can't get the mp3's to work as ringers, I actually downloaded some already converted from here, and it keeps saying not a palm database. I already got the software updates that were available, what isthe next step, I called them and they were no help( kyocera ) someone help me please!!!! I run a business and it sucks having a cool phone that doesn't work

I bought it off of ebay, the auction stated the phone was in perfect working order, save a few cosmetic flaws, I assumed it was.....

sunshine cellular, they won't respond to any of my emails, so I sent negative feedback. it was 100 bucks, do you think I should do a refund request? I mean it wasn't too expensive but they definitely didn't give an accurate description of the unit

Are you on Verizon? I bought my 7135 off eBay a few weks ago, and when it started acting flaky they sent me a new (refurb?) one overnight - I even told them I didn't buy it from them! I can't complain about their customer service!

Ditto what Chip said... I got a couple of phones from ebay, the first of which was DOA (SRCP), the second of which was flaky (missing a screw and prone to powering off spontaneously)... when I called Verizon to update the 2nd (serviceable, but barely) phone, they were very happy to send me a new one, even though I made clear that I had purchased the phone from ebay.

Strange, very strange... almost spooky strange.

It's interesting that Chip is in Hagerstown and I'm in DC (about 25 miles apart as the crow flies).

hmm, maybe I will try that then... I called kyocera and they said I could send it in for service aka pay to get it fixed. I don't have the insurance on the phone I was told I couldn't get it put on either.

yeah I was actually really shocked, there wasn't too much of a questioning, which also leads me to believe I am not the first person the tech talked to about this phone. But I will be glad to get a fresh one from them, I will keep you all updated and hopefully this thread will have no validity after I get the new one, but at that point I am sure I will have more questions...

your problem with the ringers is that you arent converting them to palm database files

use the kyocera ringer marker (available directly from the kyocera site) then covert the file (mnake sure its at least 100kb) and then hotsync it to the phone, will appear directly in the incoming calls option

I've had that problem using the built in file manager to copy ringtones from my SD card to the phone. But I've never had the problem with a third party file manager like FileZ or McFile, etc
