Accessing websites w/7135??

What sites can be accessed on the 7135? I am unable to view a full site on my phone.

What do you mean by "unable" and "full", and which web browser are you using?

Bear with me, I am a newbie... so I access the web from my phone by accessing the Web button, which displays an EIS Web, then I select the Visit Web option.

... ok.. I have a little bit of experience with that app...I'm sure others around here have much more experience and knowledge... anyway, the key to getting help is being as detailed as possible in presenting your question/problem.

So what happens? Are you saying that downloads don't complete? Or that there is a particular site that you cannot access?

I would highly recommend using the Palm Web Pro browser. You can search for a site that sitll has it for free. Works better in every way.

Many web sites have PDA verisons meant to be viewed on a small screen. Examples are proxy.espn.go.com/wireless/espn/html/pocketpc and www.google.com/palm.

You can go to regular sites through a site that strips off a lot of the graphics. One is www.skweezer.com.

yeah man you have to remember on a pda its almost always going to be a pda specifically designed site. alot will be the same but layout may vary, it's a condensed version made for the smaller browsers.

Meanwhile, back on topic of EIS Web

Here's what happens when I use EIS Web, which I like, and which is the subject of this thread.

The home page with the blue buttons appears when I tap the EIS Web icon, which is what I have linked my Web button to. That is the silver button just above the off switch.

The Help General screen says you should use the Navigate menu to tap Connect at this point. I don't.

Tap Visit Web and I can use Graffiti or the on-screen keyboard to complete the entry that has already begun with

Address:
http:// [cursor is here so you can enter a Web address]

you can click on the boxes marked www. and .com instead of typing those strings, but you don't have to.

When you think you have typed the correct address, tap the Go button in the lower left of the screen. Here's what happens.

The EIS Web home page (phone picture on the left half) appears and the bottom half is covered by a window showing Service Connection Progress. The green light should come on near the phone hinge. Phrases move along in this order:
Initializing
Signing On (book icon appears)
Established (a handshake icon appears)

the window disappears and your page should start loading. In the upper left an increasing number of nn.n K should tell you how much has loaded. You should see a green spinner to the right of that tab and it will go away when the whole page has loaded (usually replaced with a red ! to say it found some bad html code you don't have to worry about, like a page counter).

What I like is that you can see the top of the page before the whole thing has loaded. And I can pull down the Navigate menu and tap Disconnect to turn off my billing of minutes (and the green light near the hinge). Then I can read that page offline. Clicking any link will start up the connection again and load that page.

Hope this helps. Those with other browsers are free to use them but I like that this one is in ROM already and that is what the Original Poster wanted help with.

If you have never been able to get mail or load any web page, you may need your phone provider to set up the phone. I don't pay for a data plan anymore, but the phone dials a 777 number to get EIS pages loaded.

They are not the dumbed-down pages you find with other types of browsers, and there are three ways to view pages in EIS Web. In my preferences I have checked "PDA Content if available" in case I can load a page faster that way, and Wrapping view is my default.

You also can view the entire page in miniature - only useful if you know there is a link in the lower right that you need to click. You change the view by pushing the Web button again and again IF you have turned on the Options > Browser Settings and checked "Use Scroll Hot Buttons." I leave out the check for "Load Images with Page" to speed things up. Good luck.
