PhotoView pics only partially display

My jpegs in PhotoView only partially display most of the time. As the images appear from top to bottom of the screen, they usually freeze before the full pic is displayed, showing only the top 1/2 of the picture. Some times the full pictures will display, but most of the time I get this partial display problem.

Anyone know of a solution?

PhotoView is a pile of poo. I've always had problems with it. I recommend you get AcidImage or SplashPhoto for viewing images on your 7135. I use AcidImage, and it works very well.

Let's pile on! My other complaint about Photoview is that when ever my 7135 resets, Photoview is launched after I briefly get prompted with PDA prefs for time and date. I could never figure out why I don't get the Palm home screen.

Agreed. The PhotoSuite applications were the first Kyo-provided software that I dumped. AcidImage is nice - I really like being able to make pictures with any image processing software and read the .bmp, .jpg, etc. files directly. Also go with Kinoma for videos if you need that. Yeah the sound ain't great on Kinoma, but nor is TealMovie's, and in my experience TM produces lower resolution video for a given file size.

I like AcidImage. Fast, easy to use and none of that file conversion crap like PhotoView uses.

Its nice to be able to open a native file directly from email attachments, downloads, etc.

PhotoView pics only partially display

I have found that if you cycle to a different picture and then back you are able to view the entire picture.

I downloaded acid image basic and I like it alot. One problem I'm having though is when I'm running the 'slideshow' feature, I'm supposed to be able to get out of acid image by tapping on the screen. Most of the time so far, this doesn't work. No matter what I tap or click, the slide show keeps running. I usually have to reset the device to get out of it.

Am I doing something wrong, or is my phone possessed?

sometimes i need to slowly double tap the screen. also when the image is in the middle of loading it might not respond, but at the beginning or end of the loading its will cancel the slideslow (or vice versa, I can't recall right now)

ohvhost is correct. AcidImage usually doesn't respond while it's decoding an image. You may have to tap more than once near the end of a decode. Or you could tap the home icon in the upper-left Graffiti area to get back to your launcher. Tapping that more than once may be needed as well.

It must be a unit specific thing. I never had this problem. I tried checking and unchecking all of the slide show options, tried both .bmp and .jpg file formats, Afterburner at 50 Mhz on and off, everything. Every time I tapped on the screen, boom, I'm out of slide show mode. I'm using registered version 3.020, if that matters. Or maybe it's just my karma...

By the way, if you haven't noticed already, it's best to use uncompressed 160 x 160 .bmp files. These load very quickly, much faster than .jpg files that have to be decompressed. Of course .bmp files take up more space, but at 160 x 160 x 2 = 51.2 KB per file (the factor of 2 is for 2 byte (16 bit) color), you can store a lot of pics on a 1 GB SD card. And there's no point in going beyond 160 x 160 resolution (unless you want to be able to zoom in on different portions of the image, like a map or something) since the screen resolution is only 160 x 160.

True but what I like about AcidImage is that I don't have to do any resizing or converting the images. I tend to just throw some pics on my card to show people and I change them often. Or I can slap in the card directly from my digital camera...

True, that is a great feature of AcidImage - but did you notice how long it takes to load a 1 MB jpg fille? It's not a fault of AI, it loads as fast as one could expect with a 33 Mhz (or 50 in my case, thanks to Afterburner) processor connected to a relatively slow SD card interface. What's really impressive about AcidImage is that it can in fact handle such large files considering there is only a few MB of free memory, and once you load the file, you can zoom and pan VERY quickly.

If you like to make slide shows as I do (e.g. brag photos of the kids) no one wants to wait 30 seconds for the next photo to load. This is where the resizing comes in handy.

bobodobo...we are in agreement! I also have a few images that are a sequence of pics that I have pasted together. I started doing pics like this because it was easier to email someone a series of pictures in a strip than a bunch of attachments that they had to sort through. Anyway, I formated them to 160x(160*the number of pics I've pasted). then I have a cheapee slide show where all I have to do is pan down or left to see the next image...
