When skiing, I'll set Bebopper a-playing at 8am and maybe won't turn it off until 4:30 (1GB cards sure are nice). But even with the phone off and the battery compartment as close to my skin as practical (for warmth), the phone's battery gives up the ghost around 1pm.
So's I picked up a spare battery, no trouble, but when I swap, the unit does a soft reset ("Tap here to calibrate your screen"), and my Bebopper random playlist shuffles so -- GASP! -- songs repeat.
Any way around this? I'd rather avoid running all the way back to the car, just to plug it in to the charger... and I'm not even sure that would do the trick. It's not the soft reset that bugs me as much as the playlist reshuffle.
You shouldn't be getting the tap here to calibrate your screen window. That usually indicates that a hard reset has happened. Next time you get that screen, try tapping the "Don't Show This Again" button.
Hmmm... no, definitely a soft reset, as all of my data is still there. But I always get that screen and have to recalibrate after every soft reset. But now that you mention it, I don't think my wife's 7135 makes her go through those steps.
The original battery came with my post-recall phone, and is about a year old. The second battery is brand new. Again, I assume it is the cold temps that cause them to run down so quickly. Does it seem unusual?
actually I m suprised that kyocera did not yet release an extra-long-lasting battery for this phone (the one that stick out and that require the 'extended-fat-belly' battery door), so we could get 10hours!
Charge the battery fully
then throw the fully charged phone back on charge again for atleast 3 hours after the phone says charging complete. Allegedly there is a TINY internal battery (capacitor) that needs a FULL charge in order t give you those few seconds betweem battery changes.
Also, after you do the calibration next time, select "Don't Show Again".

I'll try it. But even if I follow your instructions to ensure the capacitor is charged, will it still be charged after 4 to 5 hours of use with a nearly dead battery?
I did verify that I can run back to the car, plug the phone into my 12V charger, and do a battery swap without causing a reset, but that's a lot of work.
The internal battery should stay charged until the battery is pulled, then it begins to discharge into the memory chips to keep the data. Using a "low battery" shouldn't effect this.
On the user manual, it says that the internal battery can save the data for 45mn. it also says that if you leave a dead battery for more than 3 days inside you will loose all data.
4 to 5 hours is in between 45mn and 3 days.. so I guess it s possible that you'd loose your data. although I think it s unlikely that it should happen in a few hours in my opinion.. maybe the cold plays its little role?
is my message confusing?
