Anybody here who has NEVER had SRCP?

I'd like to know if there's anyone here who has used his/her original 7135 for more than 6 months and NEVER had the SRCP message.

I've had my 7135 since October 2003 and Ive never seen the SRCP error....

I've had some stability issues early on, but I tied these to software problems and have had only rare resets managed by the 'Crash' utility. I use an large amount of 3rd party apps and test them one at a time before installing anything else.

I consider myself lucky!

I'm still using my original 7135 that I bought in April 2003, and I've never had the SRCP error. Like Osteo, I've had some stability problems, but they were always my own fault by using dodgy software. I have a huge amount of third-party software applications and hacks on my 7135 now, and it's very stable. I guess I've found the right mix. Using 44/29 firmware. Over 8000 calls and 10,000 minutes ... Still going strong!

over 6000 calls, 17464 minutes. Lots of 3rd party apps (I have been using palms for years).

I purchased my phone in November of 2003.

It came with an older firmware, which caused a lot of crashes. I upgraded to 29/44, and since then it's been totally awesome.

Sure, I've had some small problems, programs like TealTools caused me to have to do a super-hard-reset (not even a hard reset got rid of it) But I've never seen the SRCP message, and I've never had any of the other problems people report, like the backlight problem or the zero key problem.

I love this phone!

I've had mine since April 2003, When VZW first rolled them out. In fact I'm still running on 36/23 firmware with over 8000 calls and 16000 minutes. I've had a few soft resets usually associated to some combination of programs I've been running that are known to cause the Palm to burp. I had a SCRP once and it was associated with the phone going into "emergency mode" somehow. I prbably inadvertantly hit the correct combination of keys to invoke it or something, cause I've never seen it since and I've never had a spontaneous SRCP.
I dig this phone!

I started with Palm products in 1999, switched to a 6035 from Sprint which needed gutting and resetting to work in Canada on Bell, went to the 7135 7 months ago after the 6035 screen wore out. I push out a 1000 minutes a month of talk plus e-mail, TM and surfing. I have 3 buddies here who also use the 7135. No significant problems. The occasional freeze requiring a reset, which I attribute to my "I know enough to be dangerous" way of managing things. This is a great phone, still universally available in the "Frozen North".

I have never seen this at all. Have been using my Kyo for about two years now. 6293 calls, 9026 minutes. Still running older firmware (MZ 1.0.36, SZ 1.0.23) with very little in the way of issues.

I had my Kyo for over a year, with the early firmware. Never saw this message nor had stability issues.

Can you list which software to stay away from?

Almost 2 years now. I did have the SRCP message *once* but that was in the middle of doing the firmware upgrade myself. Never happened again.

I've NEVER had the SRCP message in almost 2 years now. My wife and my Dad also have the 7135 and they haven't gotten it either.

AND--since I've pretty much learned which programs play well together, I haven't had a hard reset. I get maybe one soft reset a month.

I've had the phone since May 2003 - 6000+ calls. I still have the original software (36/23). I've had a few hard resets and a handfull of soft resets. But I've never had an "SRCP" (knock on wood). I'm just hoping Kyocera/Verizon won't really abandon this phone because I love it!

Pure superstition/hunch on my part, but I say stay away from Jackflash/Jacksprat. I never had the SRCP error til I started messing with my flash rom.

"SRCP" is just the abbreviation. The actual message that is displayed is:

Serious Repercussions, Cringe in Phear.

Paul asked a second question; what apps to stay away from. Maybe this should be a thread on its own but my biggest problem was with AvantGo. It was fine unless I closed the flip w/out exiting the program. If I forgot to exit and closed the phone, all heck broke loose, from hard resets to soft resets to the white screen lock-ups. I've had a few others but mostly were medical apps that are outdated now anyway (with one exception that lives on my SD card and I still mess with occasionally; Do-in, a program of Chinese accupressure with diagrams. I'll use this occasionally and put up with the soft resets that go with it). Hope this helps...

Hello

- Still on my original phone since October 2003 with Bell Mobility.
- I have over 3000 minutes logged.
- Have seen dozens of apps come and go as time goes on.
- My phone software is MZ 1.0.38. (I have read a thread or two on upgrading firmware on your own but I subscribe to the "If it ain't broke don't fix it theory.")

I have not had the SRCP message. I too have never tampered with my flash memory and don't intend to.
