Smile Random power off FIX :)

Great news, I read everyones questions here about the phone powering off. Heres the good news that Kyocera gave me. It has worked so far, hope it helps all you guys. Remember to back up all your third party programs and sync before doing the following.
1st. Make sure you are the only user on your sync program. in the tool bar right click the sync icon and set your contacts, notes, calendar, and tasks to "Desktop overwrites handheld. Do a hard Reset by holding the button on the front of the phone under the keypad down, at the same time hit the reset button on the back under the battery cover, let off the reset button and continue to hold the light button, when the palm screen comes up it will ask you if you want to erase all data. push up to do so. now before you sync again: go into my computer, drive C, program files, palm, go to the folder with your user name on it. Rename the folder "backup" "to Backup old" exit out of that window. Sync your phone. This will clear out old programs/games, things you have downloaded that are not apart of the standard software it came with. Keep all the info on these programs so you can re-install them.
The tech i talked to said that syncing can create junk folders, or those programs can too. he said it is similar to virus, so will need to do this every so often. I hope this helps you all. It was a relief to me when i paid quite a bit for a phone that i was completely pleased with other than this problem.

errrr... the implication here is that the phone was being turned off by software -- something that you installed at some point in time.

Unless the phone turns off when the palm runs out of memory?

yes and no. the sync process automatically creates junk folders that can cause this problem even if you dont install any other software.

FYI, I just had this problem as well, badly too. It would turn off after 15 min. The problem was Zlauncher. Something must have pissed it off, basically I uninstalled it, the phone works fine, and I plan to reinstall it later. Cheers
