The Backspace-Adjust Brightness bug?

Has anyone else been plagued by the following bug:

When entering text via Graffiti on a memo pad screen or text message composition screen, if I enter the backspace stroke (to correct a mistake) on the Graffiti pad and don't draw the stylus across the full width of the Graffiti box, the "Adjust Brightness" screen comes up. If I'm careful to draw the back space stroke the full width (and then some) I can avoid "the box," but this slows my Graffiti entry.

This annoying characteristic has plagued all three of the Kyocera 7135s I have owned. The problem exists whether I've used Graffiti 1, Graffiti 2 or TealScript.

Known bug or rare instance?

Known problem, but not a bug. Its just that if you don't drag back for long enough and have your stylus anywhere near the little brightness launcher (the little sun picture) then your phone thinks you're tapping on that sun.

I've found that carefully redigitizing will usually help..tap as softly as possible, in the exact center of the sun, and then exact center of the 123 dot.

I don't know... I get that fricken thing popping up in the way all the time. And I'm pretty careful to avoid the little sun.

And it usually happens when I'm in a hurry, making the brightness box even more infuriating.

I second that.... this pop up really impedes my ability to write fast. I am very fast on most palm devices, but this brightness window really slows me down. I will have to watch to see if my backstroke is what is causing it.

I have the same problem with the contrast button. I am using Graspeedy, which divides the screen like OS5 into three sections. When writing numbers like 8 or 0, I usually open the contast screen.

I sure wish there was a way of turning those "buttons" off. Same thing with the "abc" and "123" buttons.

I know, I know, the best answer is to switch to the Treo 650. I'm just waiting for Verizon...

WOW!

I thought I was the only one with this issue! I use TealScript.

There has to be a program to re-map those buttons....
