Freeze during sync

I'm new to the forum, and kind of feel bad asking after reading about the major problems others have had... anyway, I've had problems with the 7135 freezing during hotsync and an attempted MP3 download. It took a soft reset to unfreeze. Have others had this, is there any solution?

So far I haven't had any major problems and am happy with the phone. I was surprised that Kyocera doesn't seem to have a decent support site for the phone with stuff like firmware updates. did I miss it?

Check out http://support.kyocera-wireless.com, it has a large knowledge base. Firmware updates won't ever be provided by Kyocera, because they are carrier specific(plus require proprietary software to install).

What step is your sync freezing on? Does the phone's screen go blank?

The circumstances were slightly different each time. In one case I remember for sure, I stuck the phone into the cradle and pressed the button, but nothing happened. The clamshell was closed, and when I opened it, it was stuck on the hotsync screen. It stays like that until I hit reset.

In at least one case, the hotsync program was not open o nthe PC, but shouldn't the PDA be able to live through that mistake without requiring reset?

It hasn't happened in a while, but I'm paranoid and always open the clamshell and make sure everything is nice and happy before pressing the hotsync button. For a while I was scared to use the button on the cradle, but it seems to be working now.

The button on the cradle for the 7135 causes more problems than it solves. I always hotsync my 7135 with the flip open, and by starting the HotSync application manually, then tapping the big hotsync button in the middle of the screen. No problems.

I too have had this lock up problem when attempting to use the hot sync button. (it's also happend when i just put the phone in the cradle). I'll have to try using the application to activate the sync insteat.
