Does anyone have this driver for the kyocera USB adaptor data transfer cable? It's the one with a USB plug (typa A) one end and the kyocera data connector on the other (for direct plugging into the bottom of the phone. There is a smallish black box on it part way along that you can plug your power adaptor into if you'd like.
I've just been to the Kyocera site and it just 404's me
Ok, just thought I'd give an update. I found the drivers, but they don't work. I have followed the instructions on the site, but to no avail. I plug it in, and it just isn't doing anything. I press the hotsink application logo on my phone, but there are no hotsink sounds to be heard, and after about 60 seconds I get the message telling me it can't be found.
I have the same issue except its from the actual cradle. It wont recognize the connection. I tried with the serial cable for awhile but now that connection isnt working at all. I cant sync at all. Any one have any ideas?

I'm working through an issue like this myself. I have the 7135 cradle attached through the USB connection, and it works fine. I also installed the KYOCERA WIRELESS modem, and it works as well. I picked up the TXDTA10033 data cable and downloaded the drivers from the Kyocera website. But I haven't been able to use the modem feature of the phone in this configuration. When I look at device manager (Win2K), the hardware shows up as a USB-to-serial device, and is COM5 under the communication ports. So it looks like a serial device to the computer, but the modem installed is the USB one. Is there fix or workaround for this, to get the modem functioning?

If you're tapping the hotsync button, you have to have the Palm Desktop software loaded and the HotSync Manager software already running on your PC at the time of the tap.

You're running the FAXModem application on the 7135 to get it to show up on your computer as a modem, right??
Do you have a portable keyboard for your 7135? If you do, you have to disable it's driver before using the 7135 as a modem.
EDIT: Upon further review and looking at the www.kyocera-wireless.com web site, it appears that the cable you have may not work. The only "Data" cables (not including the cradle) listed on the accessories page (LINK) for the 7135 are the following:
TXDTA10018F - Serial data cable
TXDTA10011 - USB data cable

Interesting comment about the cable. I bought from a heretofore reliable source (on Ebay). It connects, and it hotsyncs in serial mode (not USB). But, maybe it is the wrong cable
Originally posted by KLiuLess Maybe the cable is the one for the 6035. I think I remember it not being a true USB cable, but one that emulates a serial connection.
Nope, different part number. In fact, i couldn't find the 10033 part number anywhere on the Kyocera Wireless site, so i don't know what its for.
Is it possible I just loaded the wrong drivers? I grabbed the ones from the site for the 10033, but they were . Maybe I'll try to grab the ones for the 10011 and see if they work.

So has anyone gotten the USB data cable to work to make the 7135 a PC modem?
Just a matter of idle curiosity, but does anyone know why that cable has a power input for charging the phone instead of using the USB power to do so? There is another USB cable product just for charging the phone, so there is enough power.

thats because its not a true USB cable.. its a serial cable with a usb adapter built on.
And well teh word EBAY and reliable source really shouldnt be put together IMHO.
Originally posted by Genji Add another "Kyocera Wireless CDMA modem" to Com5, and make sure hotsync manager is closed when you try to dial out.
Hi:
Thanks for the tip. I hadn't been able to install the modem on COM5 until I tried it after closing hotsync manager, so I got past that hurdle. But my dialup connection still doesn't wake up the modem (yes, Fax/Modem is active on the phone when I try).
I tried the other modem ("CDMA Wireless Modem") as well, but it wasn't recognized by the dialup connection either.
I relaunched hotsync manager, and the phone hotsync'd through the cable no problem.
I'm out of ideas now. I think i'll just get the correct cable, unless someone has another tip.

You are absolutely right about the cable. As for my seller, my experience on ebay has been pretty good to date. I sent the seller a note about my experience and how he can rectify his selling me a misrepresented product. We'll see how he reacts.
That cable will work with the phone.
Don't yell at the Ebay dude quite yet.
In your 7135's Faxmodem program, go to "settings" and make sure the speed is set to 19200 bps.
Under the modem properties in your computer, make sure the speed is set to 19200 bps as well. Under the Diagnostics tab in the modem properties there should be a "query modem" button. Try that.

Yes, I have the true USB data cable with the part number I listed above (TXDTA10011). It works fine with my laptop provided that I disable the keyboard driver (I also have the Stowaway portable keyboard) on my 7135 first.
The 10033 cable is not a true USB cable, so when you plug the cable in, the computer will show "Prolific USB to Serial Comm Port" under Ports in Device Manager. Whatever Com port that cable is showing up on, install a standard 19200 bps modem to it, and reboot your computer. Put phone into faxmodem, and then it should work.
Just FYI on the power port required on the USB cable to get it to charge the phone. I wondered about this too when I got my cable, but after digging into the specs of the phone and USB in general, I found that the phone draws more power (voltage * current) than USB can deliver to a single device. Too bad they didn't design a slow charge mode into this thing for USB use.
You could probably hack a 4.5V LDO regulator onto the USB cable and make it work (since I doubt that a PC's USB port tightly regulates the supply current), but I've never tried.

(nor do I accept liability if you read this post, try it, and fry something)
