I recall a discussion of this way back when the firmware update was just released. I'm sure others will confirm this. I think that that option (button) is removed as a result of the firmware upgrade, and there is no way to get it back.

I believe MGuzzy is right. There's no way to get it back. As a workaround, you can open the Messages application and set your voice mail number in it's Voice Mail options. That will have the affect of programming the number into the "1" key on the keypad. Simply hold down that key for 2-3 seconds, and the 7135 will automatically dial the number that you programmed in the Messages application. That's the way I check mine.
I'm ready to update my phone to the new firmware as well. Do you recommend that I load apps fresh after the update or can I shoot them all back with Backup Buddy? Also, do I have to do anything special before I hotsync back from my desktop for the first time after the update?
Thanks.
Russ
After I had my "35" flashed with the new firmware my phone still gives you the options of DONE - CHECK - RESTART, but when I hit CHECK it closes the app. and returns the screen to whatever app. was open before I recieved a message. I just did like SilvrDrgn except I put my voice mail number in an empty speed dail slot.

Russmd, when I had mine flashed I got all my apps. back with Backup Buddy no problem. I didnt have to do anything special before my first new hotsync, so far I've had no problems and it's was flashed right after the firmware was released. Had it done at Verizon even though they didnt want to do it.
