MP3 Stops in the middle

Trying to get some Audio Books playing on my 7135, but for some reason the file stops at about 1 minute 10 seconds after it starts. This happens with both the MP3 player and with BeBopper. It doesn't happen when I play that same file on my notebook. I am guessing a power setting of some kind, but can't figure out what.

The 7135 does not do well with low bitrate mp3s below 96k. Audio Books could easily fall into that catagory. Please reference this link for more info:

Too Low a bit rate. Interesting. I'll see if that makes a difference. Thanks.

I had problems with bit rates over 128. Dropped everything down to 128 and it works great. Now if I could just get a better headphone mic combo....

Changing the bit rate to 96k sure seemed to solve the problem. thanks.

John,
To save space you may also consider VBR instead of CBR mp3 at 96k

VBR = variable bit rate. Check your mp3 ripper for a checkbox option before you rip. Compresses the audio at different rates while recording - silent parts take up less space than complex sounds.

CBR = constant bit rate

CPR - off topic

CPR definitely is a different problem <G>

I am using Total Recorder, and found the setting for VBR. Would I set it to record between 96 and 128?

With VBR you could probably go lower that 96k for the low end. 64/56/32?? It is something that you would need to play with to find out how low. For the high end, since you are talking about audio books, I definitely wouldn't go any higher that 128.

Considering that this issue started with MP3's that stopped in the middle because the bit rate was less than 96k, I don't want to spend too much time with it. I will end up with a track that stops while I am in traffic or some such place.
