Custom category ringtones - standard ringer still rings first!

I've owned the 7135 for .... about 24 hours! I have loaded up a bunch of ringtones for different categories, but I'm noticing that the "standard" ring goes for a second or two before the custom category ringer kicks in - this is really annoying! How do you take care of this?

its becuase the standard ring needs to go first as the phone looksup the caller and approriate category. then it will ring the custom ringer.

a hear that a workaround is to create a custom mp3 ringer with a 1-2 second "blank" as standard so it wont ring at all, then go to category ring onteh 2nd ring

I thought of that already, but that basically means losing a ring on every call...

2nd Question - any way to enable a "vibrate AND ring" instead of the option I see now which equates to "vibrate until it's JUST ABOUT to go to voicemail, then ring for 3 seconds"?

I have been looking for the same type of thing. I looked into a new product called "vibraclip", but haven't been able to get any real details on it yet. It says it will vibrate when phone is on silent, but I want it to vibrate and ring also!!

The vibrate was very lite, hard to "feel" the call.
Overall quality of the unit was bad. Use it for about 2 days then threw it in the trash!

If you have it on "Vibrate then ring", it should have looked up the right ringtone by the time the audio actually starts. I've tested this before, and it worked when I had multiple categories.

The other thing you can do is call your cell provider and have them increase the time before the call goes to VM. It'll depend on the network you use, but I've got 8 or 9 seconds before it goes to VM and losing a single ring at that point shouldn't be significant. This is programmable *only* through the cell network, not the phone itself.

Yeah, but the vibrate seems to last forever

The time it vibrates is finite, regardless of how long it takes to go to VM. Call your provider and have them extend the time to VM.

Either way, you're going to get *something* at the beginning of the ring cycle before the category ringtone is active: silence, vibrate, or standard ring. The choice of which is yours...

It's too long before it starts ringing. Either vibrate AND ring, or vibrate for 3-5 seconds before ringing. But the current setup is a bad choice. Anyway, I returned the 7135 and got the Treo 600.
