Does anyone know of a replacement phone app? I've looked far and wide but I can only fine AddbressBook replacements. I've looked at the Kyocera 7135 SDK and looks really easy to do (most of the API's there handle incoming call notifications, phone number parsing and placing outgoing calls). So why hasen't anyone tried this?
You really need to look at the application called "TakePhone". Do a search for it using the search function on this web site. Also, there is a dedicated site for it, too - TakePhone
I actually have TakePhone already. It's a very capable app, but I was looking for something that would replace the phone app for the receipt of calls and general modification of the interface (aesthetically and functionally). All the graphics are LED style B/W (yet this is a full color PalmOS screen), the time display is a huge area of wasted screen real-estate, the phone number item, while informational, hardly needs to be in the menu. Received calls could be matched with corresponding AddressBook items displaying a user's choice of fields. So far I can find an app that addresses any of this.
This subject has been discussed way back when. Such an app would be written specifically for the 7135 and would likely not work with any other phone. I don't know if Kyocera's SDK even allows developing an app that needs that kind of interface with the phone side. I would have been happy if the menu had user definable entries....
