Talking New PowerBook G4 user

Okay, I just got me a powerbook. I'm really impressed as I am usually a linux (debian) user.

Anyways, I'm interested in setting up my 7135 with the powermac. It's running Mac OS X 10.3.4.

What are you using for sync, ringers, etc.

Does it intergrate into the standard address book?

Also, if you have any suggestions for me and my new toy, please feel free to share them with me.

OK, let me tell you what I've done with my Mac.

Using the standard cradle/charger you can sync with iCal using iSync, Palm Desktop, or MS Entourage. If you sync with any other computer, don't use iSync because it will cause duplication of several events and gets confused easily.

You can get the latest version of the Palm desktop from PalmOne (I think that's the right company).

You can get the Entourage conduit from Microsoft.

There are lots of discussions about changing ringtones, etc. The same instructions work for the Mac except that the Kyocera utilities for converting MP3's to 7135 format is Windows only.

Last month, I got a True USB cable from "Dan's Cell Phones" and configured my Mac to use the 7135 as a wireless modem. Search this web site for the detailed instructions.

That's a pretty good start.

Okay, I've got the palm desktop from the cd that came with the phone, an old version. I cannot figure out which one to d/l from the palm website as our phone is not listed....

But I have it running and can sync. Only everything goes into the palm desktop. I would prefer using the mac address book and calander, not palms.

Any suggestions on what to do, or where some faqs are?

Thanks.

iSync

OK, if you want to sync with Apple's AddressBook and iCal then you have to use Apple's iSync to get the data there. If you don't have iSync, you can download it from Apple. Be careful -- there are special conduits for having PalmOS devices work with iSync. If you can't find the instructions, go to Apple's iSync web page.

Kyocera as modem

Where is my best source of instructions to use the 7135 as a wireless modem for my Powerbook?
