The SnapperMail auto update...what does it do, and how can I stop it.
I was on the internet via the phone when suddenly a PopUp appeared at the bottom of the screen saying SnapperMail was about to auto update in 5, 4, 3, 2, 1,...and I kicked of the net.
Perform a soft reset twice. Sometimes more than twice. That is what I do. Usually starts to happen whenever I have some type of notification (agendus, or other) that will not release screen control to snapper when it wants it. Fustrating huh???
The first thing you can try is going into the Hidden Preferences window and unchecking the option for "Ignore power-on state". You get to the Hidden Preferences window by entering the word "bug" (without quotes) while the main message list is displayed. It can be entered via Graffiti or keyboard.
If the above doesn't work, then you will have to deactivate the auto-update in SnapperMail, or change it to a different interval that doesn't interfere with your Internet connections.
Michael, how the hell did you ever find that hidden Prefs. window??? You're amazing!! Does aall softwrae have these features that the programmers hide from us mortals? I've heard of Easter Eggs, but ....
My topic is wrong! Snappermail isn't auto updating, it's auto backing up. To where? Why? I don't know or how to stop it. I do know it does it every night/morning at 3:00 a.m. (my favorite time to surf the net). Check your logs, please. Does yours do this? And again, how do I stop it.
It says auto backup. Goto your SnapperMail Options and check your connection log.
Mine says:
Archiving started 7/16/04 3:00 am
Archiving aborted: no prepared card
-------
CleanUp started 7/16/04 3:00 am
Nothing To Do
CleanUp ended

Purging started 7/16/04 3:00 am
Purging Done 7/16/04 3:00 am
It's not logging onto the net. It's not really doing anything I can see. It only takes a couple of seconds, but it's enough to disrupt whatever I'm already doing.

Ha, ha, ha no more "Hidden" now that we all know about it. Don‘t you just love it! Talking about a Trojan Horse entry!
I can just see others trying to enter all kinds of crazy words to see what may happen – he, he, he I'm trying myself and found that 'debug' works as well. It's a challenge
I'm using the 2.03.02 beta and experiencing a problem with auto-disconnect. Of course I'm always adjusting other software so it's hard to be sure what did what.
PROBLEM: When I tell Snapper to send/receive (with auto-disconnect set to ON) it successfully completes the send and receive and then -- usually -- hangs soon after displaying the "Disconnecting from Internet" message. The solid green phone light stays on, the top LCD display says Data Call, and the phone will stay that way, it seems, until the battery is drained. (I've left it for 30 minutes or more.)
This seems to be related (imperfectly) to a hack called ReScript, which is used with TealScript to restore its settings after a soft reset. Usually I have ReScript running, and TealScript as well, and Snapper hangs pretty consistently on exit.
So just now I turned off (only) ReScript (other hacks running) and did a send/receive, and all worked fine. Then I turned ReScript back on, did another one, and THAT worked fine too.
Any wild theories, suggestions, or light to shed on this behavior?

It has been mentioned quite a few times on the SnapperMail mailing list. That list is run on YahooGroups.
For those using the 2.0 beta version, please report problems that you find to "beta@snappermail.com". FYI, the 2.0.3.07 beta was just released this morning. It has fixes for some card archiving problems. Some network disconnection problems were also fixed, but I believe those were in the .04 - .06 betas.

From what you've indicated to us by copying your connection log verbatim, it seems to me (guessing here a little bit) that you have SnapperMail set to automatically move messages to card at 3:00 a.m. I'm guessing you have no card installed, therefore you get that "no prepared card" message. Go into preferences -> Storage -> select "Keep mail in RAM" if you don't want this to happen any further.
