Well, I'm just beginning day two with my new 7135. I migrated from a Palm M515 with many 3rd party apps and hacks. Against all advice I sync'd all data at once instead of doing the 3rd party apps one at a time...there were just too many. I did, however delete the old saved_prefs.prc...as the instructions said. Other than that, I just sync'd everything. Needles to say, I had many resets throughout the day...no data loss though. I also had to re-enter most if not all of my registration codes.
We'll see if day two is more stable...I plan to take advantage of Verizon's 15 day return policy...I highly value the stability of any palm device.
I guess I don't have any Q's about the resets...I'm an experienced Palm user and I'll just have to figure it out. I'm just curious if anyone else has had these "growing pains".
I do have a question about charging. I was able to charge it to 100% successfully a couple times throughout yesterday. But, when I left it to charge overnight (it was at about 90%), I put it in the cradle and the battery indicator was not flashing...indicating to me that the battery was not charging. The phone made the beep when I put it in the cradle, so I just left it. When I checked it this morning, it indeed had NOT charged. It was still at 90%.
Is there something I'm missing? Is there some preset level (like 80% or something) before the battery will start to charge again?

Why yes, many. I migrated from a Palm Vx which I had used fairly heavily for years. I moved over in one shot also. I use quite a few apps and hacks. I've always gone for the more stable/commercial apps and had only a couple of problems that I had to work out.
Get Crash Pro. Does a pretty good job of identifying the offending/conflicted app and automatically restarts the system.
Honestly I hate to see you possibly end up unhappy with it because of all the apps you synced. So many stability problems (not all of course) stem from software...just my two cents.

I agree with that, but,...Its more important to me to have a device that works with my important apps than to have a converged device. I got the Kyo so I gould get rid of the 'Palm to SupplyNet Cable to phone' method of getting email, etc. It requires new cables, chargers, etc whenever I got a new phone. And the connection process was quite cumbersome. Plus...the process of keeping my phone numbers on the phone and M515 sync'd was also a pain. The Kyo takes care of all that.
But, with all that said...NO CRASHES TODAY...YET!!!
I think the problem is the way you setup your 7135: by syncing everything from your M515. Personally, I never, ever believe anything any manufacturer says about the upgrade process. I've had numerous Palm devices over the years and I go through the same upgrade process every time:
1) Make sure that I have the latest versions of all applications.
2) Reinstall and reconfigure them one at a time, starting with the application launcher, followed by whatever hack master, followed by the applications.
3) Migrate data from the old handheld to the new one if necessary.
With this process, I have never had any migration problems. Some applications look at the device configuration on first install and adjust themselves appropriately; if you restore from backup to a new device, there's no guarantee that the application will reexamine the handheld to tweak its configuration. It's more time up front, I'll admit, but I save a heck of a lot of time on the back end with not having to worry about random restarts.
Well, like I mentioned earlier...day one was chock full o'resets. 10 to 15 of them...all soft. I expected that. Day two however...went all day with only one freeze-up which required a reset.
Nice
Glad Day Two was good. I did not by any means try to say not to install all of your apps or try everything you possibly can on your 7135. I did and it was very smooth. I meant syncing everything from your old Palm in that manner (even if Kyo says you can) is not something I would recommend. I like a clean slate with fresh installs.
If you end up with more resets, I would look to that approach first, rather than blaming the phone.
I agree with you. I also like to try the easy way first and hope for the best. I've been using palm's since the original "Palm Pilot" and actually, I revert to the one at a time method if the 'easy method' leads to persistent hard/soft resets...which, I actually had to do when going from the M505 to the M515...believe it or not.
I'm actually pleased that the Kyo handled it as well as it did.
BTW...I barely know it...we just met...is it ok to call it 'Kyo' so soon in the relationship?
Since I had the 6035 from close to day one, the 7135, have a Slider for my second phone and even beta tested a phone for them, yes I call them "Kyo" And my friends are your friends.
