Best Backup...BackupBuddy or Cardbackup...maybe something else ????

I am sure both will be just fine, but, what is out there that does the basic, dependable job? Are there any advantages, from the ones listed above, of one over the other? Is there sopmething newer and better out there??

Thanks.

I have CardBackup, and it works perfectly for me. The fact that it's also cheaper than the competitive programs is a bonus, too.

I had a problem with my phone, and e-mailed their tech support asking that they call me to walk me through a fix. The developer himself called me (while on vacation - on a Saturday!!) to help me. What more could anyone ask??

I use BackupMan. Works great. Robust and simple to use. Backup manually, auto-daily or auto-hourly. Restore complete device or restore individual files. Best bang for the bucks.

backup

I use backup buddy and although you would hope never to "need" it, I had my first wipe out on a business trip a few weeks ago (TOTAL DATA LOSS).... and it saved my kiester. Now that it worked in the field I guess I would have to give it my vote.

I think you will find the several mentioned will all do a good job. Decide which features are important to you and see which ones have them.

* Ability to choose which files to backup
* Ability to choose which files to restore
* Scheduled backups
* How robust the scheduled backups are (can you only do daily or can you choose more frequently)
* Cost

I used CardBackup when I had my 7135 because of the multiple schedules. I chose to have a back up 3-4 times a day. This worked out really well because I tend to "play" (or mess up however you want to look at it) and this saved my behind when I installed crappy apps. Multiple backups offered me more than just restoring data if I had to hard reset, but let me me changes and go back with very little lost data.

Another happy user of backupman. I downloaded the demo, and it saved me just a few days later. Needless to say, I was happy to pay the $10 registration fee.

I have configured backupman to do an automatic backup at 2am, and to backup everytime that I do a hotsync (unless it has already done a backup in the last 2 hours).

Backupman lets you decide how many backups you want to keep - in my case I keep the 2 most recent backups.

Backupman may or may not be the 'best' (like beauty - it is in the eye of the beholder) - but it will give you the protection that you need, and the registration is only $10.

I have used CardBackup for a while now, and have no complaints. Don't remember the price, but it was $10 - $20. I have restored from the card several times, including Wordsmith files, with no problems.

I installed BackupBuddyVFS Wednesday.

Yesterday, tried to load up Avantgo and locked up the phone (first time Avantgo has done that in 6 months I've used it).

Soft reset gave "Performing Routine Maintenance" and I lost all my info on the handheld. This I do not understand, but oh wel.

While on the road, I copied FilePoint from the card to the handheld and then launched the backupbuddy copy it places on the card. The backupbuddy copy on the card is copy protected and default launcher wouldn't copy/move it.

Did full restore and the PDA works just like before.
