Does anyone know if the 7135 is still in production? I haven't seen them in Verizon stores lately...although they said they could get me one if I wanted.
Just curious. I really like the 7135 and I feel like if Kyocera is coming out with a new PDA phone...it will be a good one.

I've not seen anything that would indicate the 7135 is out of production. It is still very much being offered on the VZW web site.
I don't know if this is an indicator of the future, but our suppliers for 7135 accessories have discontinued a few items that are pretty popular with the 7135... not sure why they are doing that when even if and when they stop offering them, I'm sure there will be plenty of them around for several years after.
I always have more than one! This one is "new" . Only 1 call, 6 minutes on the timer, brand new sealed accessories/sw/manuals. I will upgrade it to 29/44 this morning.

Originally posted by Abe Frohman Sorry...I'm new. What's 29/44? What are you asking?
This is referring to the firmware installed on the phone. The firmware on the 7135 has been updated several times since the phone was first released. There are two pieces of firmware (one that controlls the phone side and the other that controlls the pda side).
To determine the version of firmware installed on your phone, do the following:
With the phone ready to make a phone call, dial in 111111 (six ones). Then arrow down to "options" and hit OK. Next highlight "version" and hit ok. You will now see the version of your firmware (along with a lot of other useful information).
The most recent firmware versions are:
SZ: 1.0.29
MZ: 1.0.44
That is what the "29/44" is referring to. If you have older firmware than this (i.e. lower numbers), and your phone is not as stable as you would like it to be, you might want to consider having the firmware updated. This requires taking the phone to your carrier and having a technician flash the updated firmware onto the handset.
111111 is the hard way to see the firmware version. Easier to go to phone info on the Palm side and select software from the dropdown in the upper right corner.

Well, there is always more than 1 way to skin a cat. I prefer the six 1's because it displays more information than you can get from the software dropdown in phone info.
Originally posted by ekaxel I agree on that, but the "newly converged" may be better off staying out of the options!
Hey! Was that meant for me? I resemble that remark! Actually...I'm not converged at all. I use my Palm M515 via cable with my LG VX4400 to do what I need. I'm well versed in all this stuff...been hacking palms and phones for several years.
I'm just researching my first converged device...I've been holding out for quite a while...leaning towards the Kyo...same OS as my M515 so I know all my apps will work, tri-mode so it will work in the podunk towns I travel to...flip style to protect the screen. I think going to the Treo 600 as my first converged thingy on top of a brand new palm OS would be too much trial and lots of error.
But...we'll see...newer electronics are hard to resist...
BTW, I appreciate everyone's input on these forums!
Hello,
I'm new here and I am interested in the 7135 through Alltel in North Carolina.
I use the Palm T/E and I like the idea of 7135 all in one and making my belt a little lighter and less cluttered. Going back to the Palm 4.1 OS is not going to be fun but.....
What is the going price for 7135s? Is $320.00 for an "open box" unit fair and reasonable?
Is the 7135 old technology and should I wait for the next generation? The Treo 600 sounds great with Palm OS5 but Alltel does not offer it and I'm not changing carriers.

Many thanks,
Unless you are in a hurry, I'd wait. There are several new and improved convergence devices due out soon. These include new models from Samsung, Treo, Motorola, and HP, just to name a few.
