Lightbulb GPS Adapter for Keyocera 7135 USB cable

Please vote for a USB adapter that bridges 7135 USB data cable from Kyocera to GSP USB cables. I was told that null adapter won't work becuase of the difference in USB pin mapping. Special adapter is needed. Please lalso send a similar suggestion to http://www.thesupplynet.com

Thanks

Maybe I don't get this, but you are looking to connect a GPS to the 7135, right?

What brand of GPS unit?
Is it Serial [way easy to do] or USB [see this thread. Or specifically this post for pin-outs for 7135].
Do you want simultaneous charging? for both Phone & GPS from an alternate power source? (Read CLA)

Thanks Scott

I intend to use a mouse GPS with USB cable. I have'nt decided what brand, but I heard that Delorme is not accurate at all. (Apprecite a feedback from Delorme users) The advantage of USB cable GPS is that I can use it with my smartphone or with my USB only tablet PC. I couldn't see how the thread you gave me would help, specially that a GPS cable would be USB A male, and the retractable cable is USB A Male too. Would you think the a USB A Female - Female adapter works with it? I was told the female - female would'nt work with Keyocera's cable because of the pin mapping difference.

Cheers!
BA

Okay, well the 7135 is a tricky USB beast, that is what that entire thread is about, which is my attempt to create a smaller version of the USB cable that can also charge the phone via USB.

But the core problem remains the same. You want to connect two USB devices (without a Hub?) and also provide power to both of them. But, though the 7135 has USB pin-outs, theKyocera treu USB data cable has additional circuitry to make the USB connection function. So....

Once I get the circuit worked out, then you should be able to take the work around that I have and then use that to make a custom cable.

As for USB gender changing... Yes, a female female adaptor would work.

Hi -
See this thread for details on the attempt to use USB with a GPS Delorme device.
Map Programs Thread

Bottom line: Delorme told me USB will not work to connect the Earthmate to the Kyocera.
