The infrared port on the 7135 is WAY TOO SLOW to be of any use anyway. Get an SD card reader/writer device ... they're cheap.

I agree. I actually tried to Hotsync by Infrared a couple of times, and based how fast that went I wouldn't DREAM of sending a 3MB MP3 file by IR!

You also have to have the mp3s in a folder named "audio" on the sd card to use the standard mp3 player.

Take a small prc file (such as a freeware game) and send it to your 7135 if you are also concerned about the ir not working....but the error sounds like it works, it just didn't know what to do next.

you cant beam an mp3 to the 7135
reason: it will have to be accepted into the internal memory of the palm, it cant be beamed straight to the card
files on the internal memory on any palm must be in palm format, either .prc or .pdb
mp3s, are obviously not
now, text files, can be beamed, and will show up in the phone under memos
similarly (untested) you can bean .vcd's (v-card's) to the phone, and they shoudl import into addresses.

Angry

I am trying to send smaller files to my Kyocera via InfraRed as a backup when travelling. For instance, my signature file to be able to view email from another machine, small presentations or PDF files would be useful.

I have a universal card reader/writer (USB) but it is less convenient than to bean a file to my phone from my laptop and beam it back to another when I arrive. I have two IR enabled laptops, most coworkers have the same hardware and if all else fails, so does my wife!

Are there no other althernatives to beam files back and forth?

Recently I was out with a friend who had a Nokia phone with an IR port. He wanted to beam me some JPEGS and MP3's but my Palm would not accept them stating they were unrecognized. All I wanted to do was put them on my memory card to open with Apps I already have eg photosuite and MP3 player. I searched this forum and found this thread but at the time of the last post it seems that no one had a way to beam Files such as MP3's or JPEGs directly to the card.

At the time this thread was started I thought... why would anyone want to beam an MP3? but then the other night I was in a situation that this was the only option. Wondering if anyone has discovered a solution since this thread was last seen.

Incase anyone's interested... I FINALLY found a program that should do it....Media Manager 2.1.0. Found it on Palmgear... now I just need to find someone to try beaming something directly to my card.

There is also a program called "CFZap" available that supposedly lets you receive any type of file directly to the SD card. You simply put in the file extensions you want to receive, or you set it to receive all files beamed to the device. Here is a web site for it -> LINK
