Cool New User

Hi all, I'm in here because I'm finally getting a 7135. The insurance company is tired of replacing my 6035. It keeps breaking. The first time it was because I dropped it, but the ones they sent me kept wigging out. So they said this time they'd send me the upgrade!! Wheeeee!! Well, I can't wait to start downloading and fixing and de-bugging and hacking and all that stuff. I didn't do that with the 6035. (I swear.) I'm sure I"ll be posting some questions, but I will try and search first. I've been wanting one of these for a while, haha..

The insurance company said this was a new unit, but I"m sure they meant 'newly refurbished', hahaha.. Anyway, I lied, I didn't search for this, but what's the lastest software version it should have on it? Or how about this, once the phone gets here, what's the first thing I should do to it? Suggestions or thread links would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Sarina :insert smiley waiting by mailbox... : )

Um, I think the latest versions are 23/49. A search can help you with that one.

First thing? Buy an SD card and backup software. Make backups! Then you can play all you want

Current firmware versions are:
MZ 1.0.44
SZ 1.0.29

If you have your 7135 manually upgraded at a store, make sure they do both parts of the firmware. It's a two-part update.

Hi, thanks! I hard crashed my Prism a few times. I learned about backups that way, hahaha... Does this 7135 really replace a PDA? My poor Prism. His name is Palmy. We've been through so much together! I never really did anything with the 6035. I use my Prism for taking credit cards, and supposedly the bandwidth or whatever it uses to communicate was going to be shut down, so I was told to get a smartphone. Since the Prism still works, I never really used the smartphone, except as a phone. I could never get it to access the internet or anything. Plus, I didn't like the grey screen. No fun for games! What version of Palm software is in the 7135? Can I hotsync my Prism's info into it? I have Backup Buddy.
Thanks,
Sarina

Palm is 4.1 ish (4.12?). Yes it is a wonderful PDA. I used it for a year and loved almost every minute!

Thanks,

Yes, the 7135 is a good replacement for a standalone PDA. Yes, you can sync your Prism information into it, but you have to be careful about other stuff. You don't want to sync any Prism specific system files into the 7135 as they will conflict and cause problems. There are some instructions in the 7135 documentation about it, and if you search on this web site you'll find a lot more information about switching from a different device to the 7135.
