Who's used their 7135 for presentations?

Hey all. I've been around here for a little while (smartphonesource) and have really had a great time here as well as learned quite a bit from you all. I am once again asking for your help with something. I need some real-world input on using the 7135 and whatever else I'd need to display a Power Point presentation with some basic animation (spinning globe) on an LCD monitor. I did a search and have seen people mention the Margi and something else that escapes me at the moment, but I didn't find anyone with REAL-WORLD experience in using our phones in this manner...only comments about how this or that COULD be done.
I want to come up with a solution where I can just pack my LCD monitor and take my phone with me to the trade shows and set it up to loop the Power Point presentation all day (of course, I'll plug the phone in so it doesn't die on me). I need to hear from those of you who have done, or at least tried this. My concern is the processor being way too slow for even basic animation and slide changes, etc. PLEASE HELP. Thanks everyone.

I have not done this myself. But one of the managers at my location did do a Power Point presentation with his 7135. Not only that but he used a projector so crowd could see it. I was for a room full of big wigs and he blow their socks off, buy doing the whole thing from his phone. I am sorry to say I do not know how he did it. But I can find out if any body want the 411.

The 411...

YES, please let me know the details, as well as if he had animation and how it looked, etc. Thanks.

I will ask in the morning. I can't post from work. Well I can but I don't want to use my minutes ( gota love this phone, I do not need no stinking proxy). So when I get home I will post.

No animation in 5.0

I just hotsynced our trade show presentation to my phone and tried to view it. It shows all the slides, but not with their animation (spinning globe, etc.). Unless I'm doing something wrong, it looks like Docs To Go ver. 5.001 doesn't do animation; just a simple slide show. Does the new version do animation? Is there a better program to do this with?

I don't think version 5 can handle animation. Check out their website because they are on version 6 now.

ver 6?

I did, but it doesn't really say whether or not it's able to display w/animation. I may have to just do the trial version and check it out.

Tried ver 6

I tried version 6 and I can't even get it to work. I load the PP presentation onto the card and it can't find it for some reason. It finds the synced test file just fine, but it won't play it. Even if I sync it, it comes up with an error saying that I need to load some file from PP, but haven't quite figured it out yet. I had to uninstall it and reload ver 5 'cuz I need to use it for work today.
Again, if anyone's done this, please speak up. Ideally, I'll get a separate PDA w/integrated camera (I need that for work too to take pics of the products that come in) and presentation (w/animation) capabilities. I really don't care if it's Palm or MS, but I'd prefer Palm if it's possible. The Zire 71 and 72 look promising, but it's the presentation issue that's holding me up with either Palm or MS. I've gone to Brighthand and not really found any more info there than I've found here. Are people just not using PDAs (more importantly PDA Phones!) for this type of work? Don't tell me that EVERYONE is still lugging around a laptop w/separate monitor to trade shows! Let it not be! Anyway, thanks for the help so far, and please keep it coming.

Actually, I do lug my laptop around to trade shows... <grin>

DXTG6 is supposed to work with Margi's Presenter to Go, to do exactly what you describe, but animation is not supported in DXTG, and slide transitions are not supported in Presenter to Go. Also, I have not been able to get Presenter to Go to work with my smartphone, it cannot seem to find the Presenter to Go module that I have in the SD slot. So, it sits on my desk gathering dust. I have also recently had difficulties viewe\ing powerpoint presentations on my 7135 using DXTG, but that may be the presentation itself, I have not yet had a chance to try a different one.

Bottom line: IMO bring your laptop.

FWIW,

Dave

Sorry First Timer, my manager was not in today. He was out at one of the other stores. I will check if he is in tomorrow and if not I can ask our data guy. He might know. Also now that I think of it, the Store Front manager has a 7135 also I can ask him. Gota love it 5 managers in my office with a 7135 and I am the only " regular " employee with one.

Ok, I got the 411. Sorry but the guy was not in last week. He said he used software called( I think) Margi's. he then ran that in the 7135 going to a projector connected to the phone in the SD Slot. he said the only thing he had to do extra was keep the phone pluged in so it would not go into sleep mode. But other then that everything worked like a charm. He is going to bring the software in tomorrow and show me how to do. I feel lucky to have one of the district managers stoping their busy day to show me software on a toy that we both have. I will get all the information I can, and pass it along.

Keep me posted.

Thanks partagas. Check, specifically, for animation in the slides. For example, I have a spinning globe, among other animations, in my PP presentations. I know it'll do a simple slide show, but from what I understand, it won't do animations. Keep me posted. Thanks.

I am waiting for the " training" on it. But from the sounds of it, you should be able to keep the globe. I will keep you posted.
