Downloading Email Attachments/Viewing

I just got a 7135 and was told it would sync the email attachments but I can't seem to get it to do it. Looks like I need a different email program other than the Palm Mail that came with it but not sure. I've installed Palm Mail, Acrobat, and Quickoffice but I can't get the attachments to show up in the emails. Talking to tech support I have to dump my attachments to Quick Office Desktop before sync'ing and don't want to do that. What do I need to automatically download the attachments with the emails and be able to view them. Mainly need to view PDF's and Word Doc's. I have bought a 512MB SD card and would like to dump the attachments there. Will Snappermail do what I need or will my existing setup do what I need. All I get when I sync mail with attachments is a note "* your attachments are ready on the desktop" or something like that. Also, I'm using Outlook 2002 with Exchange.

Thanks

ok so i tested that, and mobile mail, syncing with attachments works perfectly.
note that you have to have an appropriate plugin installed to view anything other than text
(i also was syncing from outlook 2002, but just from a pst file)

7135 is using palm mail but I can't find anywhere that it does or doesn't support attachments, obviously it doesn't. I'll have to look at mobile mail but looks like snapper may be the way to go, I just wanted to see if what came with the phone would sync attachments but I haven't found how to do it.

I don't believe the software that comes with the 7135 can handle attachments. I use SnapperMail. It does, and it's great! For PDF's, check out Piscel Viewer.

EDIT: Apparently, Piscel Viewer only comes with certain Sony Clie' handheld models. They don't appear to sell just the software as a separate package - at least I haven't found it.

Mobile mail for the 7135 is what you need to use for attachments. The palm mail and the Eudora have no attachment capability. Mobile mail is on the Cd under additional applications.

Thanks, I'll try Mobile Mail. Does it have the capability to store the attachments to the SD Card? Doesn't seem like I'm really able to utilize the SD Card like a true pda. Seems more useful for MP3's and not mail like we intended.

If you want to utilize your SD card more, at minimum get two programs - SnapperMail and ZLauncher.

SnapperMail handles attachments on the SD card. The next release, 2.0 Premier and Enterprise versions, will also have old Email archiving to the SD card capability.

With ZLauncher, you can move applications from the main 7135 RAM to the SD card. It will automatically all associated databases for the applications you move to the SD card as well. When you run them from the card, it will copy everything for each app to main RAM and execute the program. When you exit the program, if any changes were made to said program's databases, those will get automatically updated on the SD card before removing them from main RAM again. Running stuff this way causes a little bit more delay starting up and exiting programs, but I can live with it. I usually only move programs that I don't use very often to the SD card. This has the "side effect" of saving space in your 7135's main RAM, too. All in all, ZLauncher is an excellent program.
