Anyone use Verizon's Data kit?

I wanted to use the Express Network on Verizon for my laptop through the 7135, but they said I needed a software that I have to buy from a Verizon store. Does anyone have this and are using it? What is the speed like? $79.99 per month of unlimited bandwidth seems steep, But if you can get broadband speed, may be worth it. I currently use Starbucks T-mobile hotspot Wifi and love it. Do you think I could replace this connection with the 7135 connection to Verizon? Please reply. Thank you.

When I asked about express network I was told that my 7135 was already running on X1 which is, according to Verizon, fasted than Express Network. I left it alone.

The connection you get via the modem in the 7135 will not come close to the speed of a WIFI spot. Max to expect right now on the Express network is about 60 to 70... faster than a 56k phone modem.. but not nearly as fast a wireless network hooked up to a dsl or cable modem. But it is really good if you stay at a hotel with your notebook and dont want to pay the outrageous fee the hotel wants for you to use their network... great for checking email or even light browsing or checking out the latest posts here!

For the 7135, you don't need any additional software, and you don't need to spend $79.99/month for unlimited. Get "Wireless Synch" added as a feature to your account. It is unlimited 1X (Express Network or National Access -- same thing, new name) for about 1/2 the cost.

It is not as fast as WiFi, but not bad.

All you need is a cable or you can use your hotsynch cradle, and the drivers on your Kyo CD.

I have the cable to connect to the 7135, but what software do you run to connect your laptop to the Verizon network?

Just windows dial-up networking. The 7135 looks like any other modem to Windows.

see: http://pdaphonehome.com/forums/showt...&threadid=6109 from the FAQ forum.

It is written for windows2000 and the USB cable, but the instructions are similar on all MS operating systems, and just requires different drivers if you have a serial cable instead of the USB one (both sets of drivers are on the 7135 CD, and both can be installed together).

Those instructions are great. Also, check out: http://www.fourelle.com/tech_support...nWireless.html

The speed increase is significant with venurturi 2.1 and its free, but you must run the "noauto.bat" if you are not going to use the Data Kit.
