Is there a way (or a hack) that will automatically switch the phone to switch from vibrate to ring mode when it is connected to external power (either car or travel charger) and back to vibrate mode when disconnected? My old Motorola did that and it was a nice feature. After, why would anyone what their phone in vibrate mode when plugged in.
The phone does that automatically. Actually, I would like a hack that keeps it in vibrate. I leave my phone on at night because I'm too lazy to shut it off (I know it can do that automatically also, but I have a very varying schedule). I don't want to have to set it to "silence all" every night before I go to bed.

Mine does not do it automatically. Is there a setting somewhere to make it do this? I know it does it with the vehicle hands free unit, but I am talking about using the travel charger which plugs into the small round power connector.
Do you have the incoming call set to only vibrate? I believe if you have it set to ring or vibrate then ring, the phone will actually ring if using external power. But...I would guess that if you have the phone set to never ring (vibrate only), it will never ring, even if plugged in.
I would test that if my boss would stop walking around
I think what Phil is seeing is that the phone shifts into "ringer" mode when on the dock, but not just the charger. I've noticed this myself, though it hasn't been an issue for me. Submit it for an update on Kyocera's website, the wrost they can do is say no...

indeed...
in fact, if you open the flip when the phone in in the cradle, the 'Silent Mode' indication is replaced by the day/date indication even though the '\bell' icon is still there...
i too would like a way to keep the phone in silent mode even when docked/plugged in. anybody know of one?

My only suggetion is to make a mp3 recording that is silent and then manually set that as the ringer. in theory it should work. I am going to try this myself. only problem with that is that the only indication of an incomming call is visual. Can't have everything

I thought about doing that, but it would take as many steps as setting to "silence all."

My 6035 would "ring" when in the dock even if I had silenced the phone. My 7135 does not do this, it still vibrates. I know the 6035 rang in the dock to prevent damage to the pins, and I am concerned that my 7135 (fragile little baby it is) will get damaged by all the vibrating from incoming calls and datebook reminders.
Does anyone know how to stop this automatically? I do not want to manually turn the sounds on/off.
