I work at VZW, and I just saw this today: there is a recall for the 7135 battery. They have finally decided that the performance of the battery did not pass quality assurance (belatedly), so Kyocera is recalling them. They are pulling all the existing 7135 models out of inventory, and there is a freeze on selling the phone until after January, when the new battery is available.:angel

WOW!!! This is BIG news! Are ALL the existing batteries being recalled???
If this is true it sounds more like a safety recall in disguise - I've noticed the exterior case of the batteries is very thin. I imagine it doesn't have much strength to it and could short out internally and catch on fire if it was squeezed or abused.
I doubt there would be a recall based solely on what we typically think of as battery "performance". So, we may all get safer batteries but I doubt the performance will be significantly better.

Interestingly, the 7135 has disappeared from the VZW website - at least in my zipcode. It was there a few days ago!

Holy cow! You're right! The 7135 was on the Verizon web site for the D.C. area just this weekend. I don't know what this portends, but it doesn't feel like good news to me...
I have two batteries. One was a free replacement from Kyo when my first battery lost the ability to hold a charge after about 8 months. The second is a spare I paid for myself. Having two batteries REALLY makes life easier with the 7135. If these recall rumors are true, I hope the new battery has a longer charge and a longer life.

Why? I'm leaning towards good news. Don't want to sell any more until they get the replacement batteries. If its that bad then maybe a battery exchange for existing customer phones or at least a discount.
Data Rox and dwdod.
Don't go off screaming "the sky is falling". We all have a our phones, they work ( and will continue to work) well, battery life notwithstanding.
Wait for something official. There is too much invested. A better battery is coming!

I sure hope you are right. I'd be very disappointed if Verizon has decided to pull the plug on the unit.
It's gone from the verizon site for my zip code. Interesting...
I personally don't have issues with the battery. This phone seems to get warmer than my 6035 did and the battery life is much shorter, but between the car kit and sync/charge cradle, I'm rarely aware from a power source for more than several hours...
Sounds like great news to me! New and better batteries or they might give us discounts on a new phone. Hmmm. Maybe the new Samsung SPH505. (Sorry, Kyocera.) Yeah!
