Emergency Mode

An interesting thing happened today. I recieved a call from my wife's cell and there was no one there as tends to happen sometimes with these fangled devices. When I looked at the screen the phone side display had a big red square with a white cross in it where the speakerphone icon usually is and the title "Emergency Mode". There was also an item added to the menu to "Exit emergency mode". I pondered it and then hit exit.
When I got home I checked the manual and it said:
Quote:
"Anytime you make a 911 call, your phone goes into Emergency mode. This enables the emergency service exculsive access to your phone so they can call you back if necessary. to make or recieve calls after dialing 911, you must exit this mode."
So I checked my Call history log, thinking I could have accidentally dialed 911 (I live in the 916 area code and I've done it before), but it showed no record of a 911 call. In addition, since then I have a reminder screen popping up with a "Browser Net Alert" after a small Icon for the WAP browser.
Has anybody seen this before, and how do I find out what the "Browser Net Alert" is?

The browser Message Alert is used if you have Mobile Web service and your WAP mailbox (Hotmail I believe) has messages waiting for you. If you try to view the alert, it will start the WAP browser.

If you don't have mobile web, I would think it is related to whatever spontaneously sent your phone into emergency mode.

If you can't clear it from the messages screen, a soft reset should do it. If your phone does this again, I would call VZW or Kyocera.

Thanks for the response AlanB. That's what I found so perplexing, I don't have mobile web and I've not set anything up for my WAP mail box. I did trying viewing the alert and all it said was, "Alert inbox empty".
I guess I'll write it off to an effect of Sun spot activity or something if nothing happens again.
