Non Kyocera car charger hurts batteries?

I have two Kyocera brand batteries, 03, not 05, for my 7135, both about 6 months old. Lately I can barely get through a day without swapping, and I am a light user. I called Kyocera and the rep asked me questions about how I charge the batteries, change batteries, what programs I have recently loaded, and whether I use a car charger. I said I do use a car charger, infrequently, and she asked if it is Kyocera brand. It's not, but I said it was to see where she was leading. She said if it is not, it can cause problems and that she would then have to lead me through backing up, hotsyncing, and reinstalling everything. Now how does that help the battery? Should I do something of the sort? Any info appreciated!

I can tell you that with the Kyocera I am putting out the money for an OEM quality charger. I do not have experience trying a non-oem with my kyocera but I can tell you I have had a host of problems with my other phones when I bought cheap-o chargers on ebay. I've decided to stick with OEM from now on, and with a phone this expensive I would suggest it. Those ebay cheap-chargers are real garbage and have done more to screw with my past phones than anything else. I avoid them like the plague now.

i agree, non kyo chargers are not the way to go. they can cause battery failure because they can overcharge them.

if you are in fringe areas and/or roam frequently that can run the batteries down. using the mp3 player, etc...

Besides the fact that OEM chargers can be had for less than $10... it's just a bad idea to use non-OEM.

Okay, I hear ya'll! So... have I potentially ruined the batteries, or something in the phone as well? And why would the Kyo rep say something about deleting everything, reloading, etc? How would that help the batteries? And where can you get a Kyo brand car charge for $10???
Thanks!

in regards to backing up and syncing.. they probably want you to have your files backed up in case the phone shuts down or cold boots. other than that, i don't see why they would suggest that.

its possible you may not have hurt anything, but the odds increase when you step out of the OEM arena...

OEM Batteries

OEM Batteries are the only way to fly. I lost 2 batteries "saving" $15.00 on a non-oem charger.
