Don't blame that on SnapperMail as it's not it's fault. As far as I know, there is no reader program that can open native format PDF (Adobe) documents. In order to be viewed on a Palm device, they have to be converted on a PC and sync'ed to the device via the Adobe conduit.
I tried Aileron along with several other programs. Aileron promised the most, but did not deliver.
My primary need is to open various attachments. Snapper works great with the latest version of QuickOffice to open MS-native files (Word, Excel, etc.)
I also need to open WordPerfect and PDF documents. Aileron promised that it would do both.
As I understand it (and please correct me if I'm wrong), Aileron has a two-step process: 1) The Aileron site periodically (or on command, depending on how you set it) reaches into your desktop (you need to leave it on, even if you're on a network) and grabs your mail. If there are attachments, it converts them to a format which can be viewed/manipulated on your handheld. 2) When you check your mail with your handheld, you're not actually checking your mail account on your desktop/network--you're checking Aileron's mirror of that account, with your converted attachments included.
I had several problems with Aileron. The first, and primary, is that it does not deliver what it promises. It does not convert WP or PDF documents. I have to have my secretary convert those documents and re-send them to me anyway, so why do I want Aileron. When I e-mailed and called Aileron repeatedly, trying to get a solution or work-around, I received absolutely no response. Second, connection problems are significant. Using Snapper to connect directly with my mail account on my office's network is seamless. Third, Aileron requires an annual fee. Snapper, used with Quickoffice, is a one-time expense. I have other issues, but the above three alone pushed me to Snapper.
Thanks for the feedback. I decided a few days ago that i would not switch to aileron. I will stay with snapper. Im just a person that likes to try new things. But i do have another question. Say someone sends me an email with a video attachment (WAV format), what applications can i use to open it? I have deleted photosuite from my phone, so thats a no-no. What about Kinoma?
