Just got off the phone with Verizon Customer Service. I'm already a Verizon Customer, and was looking into upgrading to the 7135.
The service agent said they are currently offering a $120.00 instant rebate on the 7135 through Customer Service and that the stores didn't have the ability to give the reabte. Which was confirmed last night when I went to the store, nobody there knew anything about it.
So the price they quoted me was $379.00 for a new 7135, and would be delivered in 7-10 days. Got it comming. Whahoo!!!
They also offered the $100 trade in, but I didn't qualify.
Also I'm not yet qualified for the $100 new every 2 program.
So I asked her "If I qualified for all the different programs, I could get a new 7135 for $179.00???? Is this correct?" She confirmed it.
Can anybody confirm this? Hopefully some other price won't show up on my next months bill...
Can you give me a little more info on this please? I have SPRINT and I want to change to Verizon NOW!! I was looking at the i500 for $276 with discounts but I had to get a NEW number.....***holes!! If what you say is true, I might be at the promised land I am looking for.
1)Is that $120 off for EVERYBODY in ALL areas??
2)WHat would make one qualify for the extra $100 ??
I dialed *611 on my Verizon phone...I think it connects to the regular customer service number.
I just told her that I wanted to upgrade my phone to the 7135. She looked up my account.
First she said that I didn't qualify for the New every two program ($100 off), since I've only been with Verizon for 13 months. New Every Two is the program where they give you $100 trade in (on any phone) credit if you've been with them for atleast two years.
Then she asked if I had a phone to trade in ($100 off), which I think applys if you trade in any Treo, 6035, Thera, Samsung 330i & 300i, and there are a couple of others too, check the web site for the complete list. But I didn't qualify for that either.
Then she said that they are offering a $120.00 instant rebate and quoted me $379.00 for the phone. Of course thats with a 2 year contract agreement. I told her that I was in the store the night before and they didn't offer the rebate. The funny thing is that she said the local stores don't have the ability to give the rebates, only through the Customer Service number. Go figure. But I told her to go ahead and send the phone.
I have the persons name that I spoke with written down at my office, I'll call her back and see if I can find out more. I remember that she said she was in Texas somewhere...
My location? I'm in geosynchronous orbit around earth. Says it right over there <------
Actually I'm in Mobile, Alabama. Maybe they gave me the rebate because the rednecks here don't know how to use a regular cellphone muchless the 7135.
I'll report back when I actually get the phone and my bill. To make sure I didn't get screwed.
Just got off the phone with VZW Customer Service again...
I didn't get to speak to the orginal person, she was busy with someone else.
But the person that I did speak to, told me that I got $100 dollars credit for an "Early Upgrade" that is only available through Customer Service and not the stores. Its basically because I extended my contract with them.
She wasn't sure where the other $20.00 came from. So she sent the orginal agent an email and would call me back once they got it clarified.
I just got off the phone with them arguing another issue, and was told the 7135 is $629.99 "retail" and $499.99 "with two-year contract."
New-every-two doesn't mean squat if you move from one market to another, so grab a new phone BEFORE you move across the country.
Instant rebates are cool, as long as they mean "discount" and don't get forgotten by the rep doing the data entry.
Mail in rebates are only good if you like to call back and argue.
And it's interesting this was a telephone customer service deal. When arguing how they screwed me two months ago, 4 out of the 5 people I just spoke with kept citing a problem with the procedure at the store. When I explained that I bought it over the phone, they all stumbled.
.nhoJ - a little bitter today
Oh, almost forgot, Verizon doesn't "finance" hardware. I was told I should have been required to pay up front. If anyone can buy new hardware and NOT pay upfront, contact me. If you can get them to "finance" it, contact me twice!

Here's an idea I came up with while talking with another VZW customer. If you are up to date with your verizon account you can have the price of the phone added to your montly bill. That's how I bought my 7135. Then just pay off your monthly bill at whatever rate you wish. they may hit you with a late fee, but hey you can just call it a finance charge.
Also finding competent CR's at VZW can be a challenge. I prefer to use the store front and when I findd one with half a brain I get there name and use them all the time. It reduces stress of arguing with nincompoops!

May I be rude and ask exactly how long it took you to pay your bill? I mean, specifically, how much did you pay on top of your monthly service to get it paid off?
We're on our second month of paying off a 7135 and an i700 (nearly $1200) and we can't make outgoing calls. We were told that we could complete the call after speaking with someone, but they're closed today, so we couldn't get any calls out while running errands. (that reminds me, I got a voice mail earlier I couldn't check, so I have to use my land line)

Idea: do you think I can go to the storefront that originally told us to call in (due to not having the hardware in store) and convince them to leave our account working properly while we take care of the balance?
John,
Yes, you may be rude in so asking... Actually I paid my bill off the next statement so there was no roll over. But the person I talked to that suggested this knowing I have a long track record with VZW. I had been with them since before they were airtouch in my neck of the woods. Jeeze going on six years now. Also we were talking about carrying a balance of on 7135 that I got for 299 (I had 100 rebate +100 NE2 discounts). So it wasn't the $1200 your trying to float, whew. I would talk to someone at VZW face to face preferably a manager and hopefully you can work something out.
good luck
